Northampton (formerly of Weston & Concord, MA) - In Loving Memory of Lois C. Jones (March 1, 1938 - December 3, 2023)

It is with heavy hearts and fond remembrance that we bid farewell to Lois C. Jones, a woman whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. Lois passed away at the age of 85, after bravely facing a 12-year battle with Alzheimer's disease. Born on March 1, 1938, in Windsor, Vermont, she departed this earth on December 3, 2023, in Northampton, Massachusetts.

Lois was the second of seven children born to Elizabeth Baker Chamberlain, a high school English teacher from Brewer, Maine, and Philip D. Chamberlain, a Baptist Minister from Cambridge, Massachusetts. A graduate of Gordon College, Lois married Aubrey E. Jones of Weston, Massachusetts, in 1959.

Early on in her work life, Lois taught 3rd grade at Willard Elementary School in Concord, Massachusetts, where she left an indelible mark on countless young minds. Her dedication to education was truly commendable. Thereafter, her professional journey included years helping to run Rum Cay Diving Club in the Bahamas and The Travel Agency in Weston, Massachusetts, through which she explored the world with her husband. Thereafter, for nearly 20 years, Lois served as Executive Director of the Westonian in Weston, which eventually became Sunrise Assisted Living of Weston, offering comfort and love to residents, their families and her employees. Her last 2.5 years were spent as a resident of Linda Manor Extended Care in Northampton, Massachusetts, where she continued to capture hearts with her infectious joy.

An avid reader and a lover of music and travel, Lois left an enduring impression on those she encountered. To know Lois was to love her and she leaves behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, and boundless love. A devoted Christian, Lois actively participated in church life, directing music for children, bringing food and flowers to the elderly and infirm, and playing the piano by ear until her final years. She shared a deep, unwavering love for Jesus that radiated through her joyful spirit and warm smile.

Lois was predeceased by her husband; Aubrey E. Jones, her parents; Philip and Elizabeth Chamberlain, her sister; Deborah C. Masters of Oxford, Pennsylvania, and her brother; Jason A. Chamberlain of Scottsdale, Arizona. She is survived by her children: Sabra Jones Roegge (and son-in-law David Morgan Roegge) and grandsons Alexander John Roegge and Ryan Roland Roegge of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; Jocelyn Baker Jones and grandsons Jasper Jones Coles and Silas Chamberlain Coles of Northampton, Massachusetts; Jodi Jones St. Sauveur and grandsons Nicholas Alexander St. Sauveur and Kyle Monahan St. Sauveur of Northampton, Massachusetts; Kolt Zimmerman Jones and grandsons Charles MacInnis Jones and Fletcher Stevenson Jones of Greenwood, South Carolina.

Lois is also survived by her siblings, Philip D. Chamberlain, Jr. (and sister-in-law Renee Chamberlain) of Lancaster, South Carolina; Charles J. Chamberlain (and sister-in-law Terry Chamberlain) of River Ridge, Louisiana; Anna C. Jones (and brother-in-law Donald E. Jones) of Cape Elizabeth, Maine Nathan A. Chamberlain (and sister-in-law Linda Chamberlain) of Bradenton, Florida; and brother-in law Ronald E. Masters of Oxford, Pennsylvania; and sister-in-law Karen Chamberlain of Scottsdale, Arizona. Lois leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, a testament to the expansive love within her family.

A memorial service to celebrate Lois' life will be held in the spring or early summer of 2024, date, and location to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org).

May Lois C. Jones rest in eternal peace, her memory forever cherished in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know and love her.
