Lois Keevil Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 18, 2024.
Lois W. Keevil (née Wood), of Oceanport, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2024, at the age of 95. Born on July 30, 1929, in Long Branch, Lois lived a vibrant and full life marked by her dedication to her family, her career, and her many interests.

Lois was known for her spirited and resilient nature, often described as "tiny but mighty." Her ability to run her household with precision earned her admiration from all who knew her. Lois's love for her family was profound, cherishing every moment spent with her nieces, nephews, and especially her grandchildren.

A lover of music, Lois was an active member of the St. Luke's Choir and the Eatontown Choraliers. Her passion for singing played a pivotal role in her life, even leading her to meet her beloved husband in the choir. Together, they shared many interests, including square dancing with the Pi-R Squares and Monmouth Squares, and enjoyed numerous camping trips and sail boating on the Shrewsbury River and Lois also enjoyed 'Fem' trips with the ladies in the family. As from a small child Lois was a avid reader Reading she was at her happiest.

Professionally, Lois retired from Ft. Monmouth in the early '90s after a fulfilling career as a secretary. She also contributed her skills to Allstate Insurance Company and served at St. Luke's United Methodist Church for a decade.

Lois is survived by a loving family: her son Jeffrey Keevil and his wife Lynda of Evans, GA; daughters Susan Douglas and her partner James Hornung of Whiting, NJ, and Nancy Kusch and her husband Mike of Long Branch, NJ; granddaughter Lia Best and her husband Timothy of Bricktown, NJ; grandson Scott Kusch and his partner Melissa Watts of Howell, NJ; grandson Jordan Keevil of Georgia; along with six great-grandchildren and numerous cherished nieces and nephews.

Lois graduated from Long Branch High School and continued to be an active member of her community throughout her life. Her hobbies included singing, quilting, and sewing, each a testament to her creative spirit and love for hands-on activities.

A faithful member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Long Branch, Lois's commitment to her faith and community was unwavering.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Lois can be made to the SPCA of Eatontown or St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Long Branch. Her legacy of love, leadership, and generosity will continue to inspire all who knew her.

To all of Aunt Lois's family, I send my heartfelt condolences. Aunt Lois was the last surviving aunt on the Keevil side for my late wife Pat. Pat and I always enjoyed our trips to New Jersey to visit her family there including Aunt Lois and Uncle John. Pat and Aunt Lois shared some of the same hobbies. My thoughts are with all those who are touched by her passing.

I spent many happy years knowing Lois through our membership in the Choraliers of Eatontown and enjoying performing beautiful music as fellow sopranos. What a caring and special person she was and I'm so blessed to have known her. My most sincere condolences to her family.
