Lois Maxwell Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 27, 2024.
Lois Ann Maxwell (nee Edmons) passed away on March 28, 2024, at the age of 80 in Green Valley, Arizona. She was born on March 9, 1944, in Staten Island, New York, to Janice and Howard Edmons.

Lois would recount that, as a young girl, she wanted to do three things with her life: become a nurse, become a wife, and become a mother. She did all three with all her heart. She was also among God's most faithful servants and believers.

Lois was a skilled, high-energy geriatric nurse and problem solver at CRISTA Ministries, where she served for many years until her retirement to focus on her health. She embodied a spirit of compassion and care in her profession. In her later years, her mind was sharp and eager to solve problems, as she recounted that that was, in fact, her training.

Outside of her career, Lois had a variety of hobbies, including stamping, making personalized cards, baking, listening to music, shopping, making jewelry, and the joy of giving to others. Her interests reflected her generous and thoughtful nature, always seeking to bring happiness to those around her.

She found solace and community at Grace Church of Sahuarita, Arizona, where she worshipped and found spiritual fulfillment and true friends who sustained her daily. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life, shaping her values and interactions with others.

Lois was a beloved wife of 63 years to John Maxwell, a cherished mother to Greg Maxwell and Kristine Toliver, and a caring sister to Bob Edmons, Elaine (Andy) Ball, sisters-in-law Toni Edmons and Susie Hayes, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family in Idaho. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be remembered by her family and loved ones.

There was none like her. She persevered with faith and laughter through physical affliction. She now has no pain, and she has pure joy in her faith of Heaven.

A memorial gathering in honor of Lois was held at the home of Tammi and Bill Stevens on April 13, 2024, where friends and family came together to celebrate her life and share cherished memories.

Lois Ann Maxwell will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit of compassion and joy will live on in the hearts of those she touched. She was an example of compassion, empathy, love, faith, and perseverence.

Lois, my one and only sister!
Lois was a most kind hearted and compassionate person! She was generous and loved supporting missionaries and God's church here on earth with tithes and offerings!
She helped out whenever and wherever she saw a need! She was a problem solver!
She loved her husband and children - next to her Jesus, her family was the light of her life!
I know when our Jesus took her to Heaven, He was saying to her: Well done, though good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the
"joy of thy Lord" !!!
As my only sister, Lois was my cheer-leader and encourager! She enjoyed hearing all about the "goings-on" of my life; she had love and concern for my five children, always asking about them and praying for them!!!
She was a prayer warrior! She could always be counted on to offer prayers and love any time there was a need - for anyone and anything!!!
She'll be missed, but remembered with love and great appreciation!
Thank you, Jehovah Father God, for putting Your servant, Lois, into our family and allowing me the privilege and joy of having her as a sister!!! Hallelujah!!!

Thank you for the love and support you showed me when I came to your house for my summer visits. I will always treasure the days I spent with Kris and Greg--you were always kind; your smile will live forever in my heart. Rest in peace Aunt Lois!
