Lois Jean Young, 92, of Kinde, passed away Monday, January 30, after a short illness. She was born on October 29, 1930 in Meade Township, daughter of the late John and Margaret (McPhee) Dondineau. On November 4, 1950, she was united in marriage to Wilford S. Young of Pinnebog. He preceded her in death on March 19, 2010.
Lois Jean was a resident of Meade Township where she worked with her husband running the family farm. She was a current member of the Bad Axe United Methodist Church and a past member of the Pinnebog Methodist Church. Lois Jean was a talented seamstress. She enjoyed quilting and needlework, with many lucky people receiving a quilt as a gift. She loved spending time with her family and her little dog, Gracie, which brought her joy after her husband’s passing. She will be greatly missed by all.
Lois Jean is survived by her children, Glenn Young (special friend Kathy Deacons) Kinde, Robert Young, Lansing, Barbara (Arthur)Brooks, Lansing, and Lois (Don) Liedke, Filion; five grandchildren, Leslie (Troy) Benoit, Rebecca Liedke, Kathryn (Joe) Dinninger, Mike Young (Special friend Tiaja)Brad Young (Special friend Heather); three great-grandchildren, Brooke and Isabella Benoit, and Kiera Young. She is also survived by her sister Mary Ahles and sisters-in-law Bertha Dondineau and Lena Ellinger, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Wilford, and her brother Gordon Dondineau, as well as several brothers and sisters-in-law.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 3, 2023 at the Bad Axe First United Methodist Church at 12:00 PM, with Pastor Tim Callow officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on February 3, at 10:00am to the time of service at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow at Colfax Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Bad Axe United Methodist Church or Meadowlanes Assisted Living Enrichment Fund.
