POCKAR _ Lojz (Louie) October 28, 1933 - October 7, 2003 Lojz passed away peacefully with his devoted family by his side, after an exhaustive but admirable 27 year battle with Parkinson's Disease. Lojz was just shy of his 70th birthday. Lojz will be forever loved by Norma, his wife of forty-six years, two daughters: Serena (Malcolm Holbrook) and Leanne (Robert Furlan) and four grandchildren: Stephen and Melissa Holbrook, Isabella and Dante Furlan, two brothers: Emil and Mirko of Calgary, a sister Maria in Slovenia and a very large, loving family. Lojz was predeceased by his only son Brian in 1992 and brother Tony in 1975. Lojz was born in Barka, Yugoslavia and escaped to Italy at the age of nineteen where he lived in a refugee camp for one year before arriving in Canada in 1953. He laboured on a farm and later with N.Y. Construction before co-founding Pockar Bros. Masonry with Tony in 1956. Among his many business interests with the Pockar Group of Companies were Pockar Industrial Park, and a source of great personal enjoyment, Pockar Ranches, his cow/calf operation near Sundre, AB. Lojz was passionate about his work, sports, bocce, cards and especially his grandchildren. In deepest sorrow of his loss and in celebration of his life, the Pockar office and operations will be closed all day Friday. A special thank you to the compassionate staff of Care West C3 Program and George Boyak Care Centre. In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate donations to the Parkinson's Society of Southern Alberta, 480D - 36 Avenue S.E., Calgary, Alberta T2G 1W4 (Telephone 403-243-9901).
