Lola L GENTRY Lola L Gentry passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, July 1, 2010. She was born in Grangeville, Idaho on April 29, 1923 to Theron S. Jackson and Bertha E. (Bolen) Jackson. After finishing twelve years of public education in Grangeville, Lola went on to study two years of journalism at the University of Idaho. In August of 1943, Lola traveled by train to North Carolina to wed her high school sweetheart, Arley Gentry. She loved the adventure of military life, following her husband all over the country. When Arley was assigned overseas duty in the summer of 1944, Lola returned west, where she worked as a newspaper reporter in Bremerton and Portland, respectively. After Arley's return from the war, the young couple lived in Idaho for several years, before moving to Seattle in 1959. Here, she held various office jobs until she went to work for the State of Washington, from which she retired in 1985. During her retirement, she started writing again as a hobby, contributing articles and stories to local senior publications. Lola was preceded in death by her husband , Arley; a sister, Bertha Randall; two brothers, Stanley and Jean Jackson. She is survived by a son, Lowell (Tillie) Gentry; andtwo grandchildren, April (Matthew) Isenhower and Greg (Gloria) Gentry. A Memorial service will be held for Lola at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 9, 2010 at Rainier Beach Presbyterian Church; 9656 Waters Ave S; Seattle. Donations can be made in Lola's memory to the favorite charity of the one making the donation.
