She was born at her grandparents home in Newton Utah on September 28, 1923, the third daughter of George & Olivia McCulloch. She started school in Pegram, Idaho at the age of four. She also attended grade school in Virginia, Idaho and Newton, Utah. She graduated from Downey High School in 1940 at the age of sixteen. Later that year the family moved to Humphrey, Idaho where she met her future husband, Dean Rose. They were married September 16, 1942 at Idaho Falls. Dean was inducted into the army in February, 1943. She lived in Roberts, Idaho during the three years he served in World War II, at which time their oldest son Larry was born. After Dean returned home, they lived in Dubois, Idaho for a year, then he went to work for Idaho Power and they lived in various places in Idaho and Oregon. Two more children, Kaye and Ron were born during these years and in 1957 they moved to their permanent home in Emmett, where daughter Sheila was born. She was a member of the L.D.S. Church, where she served in many capacities for numerous years. She worked at various fruit packing houses in the Emmett Valley and also at Valley Pump. Her hobbies were sewing, photography and genealogy. She loved to travel and visited 48 of the 50 states as well as Canada and the Caribbean. She passed away peacefully with family by her side on the 25th of October 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband Dean, sister Leah and parents George & Olivia McCulloch. She is survived by her children Larry (Marina) of Boise, Kaye (Larry) York of Cambridge, Ron (Lynne) of Emmett, Sheila (Nick) Schroeder of American Falls, sister Fae of Boise, nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the Apple Valley staff for their wonderful care of our mother for the last seven years. Services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday Oct. 30, 2009 at the Emmett LDS Stake Center. Burial will follow at the Emmett Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 2 until 8:00 pm and the family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett. My condolences to the Rose family on Lola's passing. Growing up on the South Slope across the road from Lola and Dean are some of my fondest childhood memories. I was always welcomed into their home like family. What a special lady she was and always had something funny to say. She will be deeply missed.

I was just reflecting on our childhoods together and the times we spent freezing corn or making candy with Lola. She was so wonderful, I will miss her. Love, Julie and John Evans

To all of Lola's family,
It is so hard loosing a mother, no matter the age, it just leaves a huge empty spot in the family structure. It is obvious so many loved and cherished her.

Dear Rose Family,
Lola was such a dear sweet lady and we will miss her from our Apple Valley family. We will miss her jokes and quick wit. Our prayers are with you all during this time she loved you all so. I am sure Lola is having the time of her life telling her jokes and tales of adventures she had over the years. She touched our lives and will be in our hearts forever.
Cindy Kochner and the Apple Valley Staff and Residents.
