We met Lon in Feb. 2007 when Lon and Patrick found their way to our motorcycle shop in Phoenix AZ and there was an instant connection. You could feel his love of life, his enjoyment in being around others. Over the next year he was always in contact with us, calling or e-mailing – he would tell us what an impact we had made on his life when in fact he has made an impact on ours. He would tell us stories of the boys (he was such a proud Dad) and of his mom and always told me that we were in his prays. We so looked forward to seeing him back in AZ next summer to celebrate that half century mark – there will still be the celebration with a toast to the heavens…
A butterfly lights beside us, like a sunbeam...
and for a brief moment it's glory
and beauty belong to our world...
but then it flies on again, and although
we wish it could have stayed,
we are so thankful to have seen it at all.
Lon was that butterfly that touched our life. We will miss you greatly our Friend and we wish peace, and prays to the Ziegler family.

My uncle Lon was an amazing man. he helped and touched so many people throughout his life it was amazing to see the suppport from everyone. If it wasn't for my uncle Lon i wouldn't have the same belief in myself, I would listen to him more than my own father for a period of time. I can still remember playing baseball with him, Travis, Chad, my brother (Rob) and my dad on the baseball field behind his house when it was there like yesterday. The time spent with Uncle Lon will be cherished by everyone. On a final note I would like to thank everyone for the support they have given the family.I know in my heart, as im sure everyone else does, that he's looking down upon all of us with his most unique smile of his, proud just to have been able to know and to share his time with us.

Lon, what can I say...we have always had fantastic conversations about our lives, our work, personal lives and of course your boys. I have heard many great hockey stories about your boys and you were always showing that fantastic smile of yours while telling me.
I will miss you very much, and will miss our plans to get together that never seemed to pan out...but we kept on making new plans. lol
I was proud to be your friend...
All the best to your family and friends. You are greatly missed.

Lon packed a lot of life, learning, love, mentoring, concern for others and enjoyment into his forty nine years. I am grateful to call him friend and colleague. His pride for his sons showed every time he smiled that big happy infectious smile. He was truly a one off!

I have known lon for about 3 years but haven't really talked to him since mid-last year. He had great words of wisdom for me, and i will keep that with me forever. Lon taught me how to succeed with my schooling, and he told me that i was going to be a very successful girl in the future. We had very deep conversations that i will never forget in my life time. Lon was a truly great person that never gave up on anyone. No matter how little of time he had, he made sure that everyone was important. He sure made me feel that way. You will be missed Lon Kent Ziegler.(L)

My deepest sympathy to Chad, Travis, family and friends…
My buddy Lon…Tears came over me when I received the news of his passing because I’ve lost a very good friend. We’ve met in 2002 when he joined Triton. He came to my office to introduce himself and we instantly became friends. Lon always had a positive energy that he spread on to others. No matter what was going on in his life, he always had a smile on his face and this smile would always brighten up my day. He loved live….Lon loved his sons and they were his #1 priority… He was a proud dad and an amazing friend… Lon was a good person, the best, and will be greatly missed by many.
Lon, may your soul rest in peace. I will miss you dearly and the memory of our friendship will always live in my heart…

Dear Val, Travis and Chad:
I was very shocked and saddened when I heard of Lon's passing. Although we haven't had much contact since the 'hockey' days, he was always very friendly, positive and supportive whenever we'd bump into each other. It was very evident how extremely proud he was of his boys, and rightly so! It is a big loss to our community. My heart goes out to you three. Someone had written in their tribute "TLC" and I was like, ya I remember that. I always thought it was the coolest. TLC forever!
With Deepest Sympathy and loving thoughts,

Sincerest condolences to Val, Travis, Chad and the rest of the Ziegler family during these difficult days, may the presence and prayers of loving family and friends help in dealing with such sudden and tragic loss. No pen can write; No tongue can tell… there really are no words to adequately express our feelings in the loss of such a vibrant colourful individual as Lon.
Our paths have crossed continuously for about 25 years and whenever they did there was always laughter, upbeat conversation, discussion of family trails and triumphs, of careers and mutual friends. Lon has been a great friend and associate, always with an attentive ear, always with positive advice or encouragement. He was a very proud father and role model to his family and others, an involved community member with a heart of gold… He has been a good friend to us all.
We will sincerely miss you Lon!!
With Respect,

Your father truly was a wonderful man. I got to know on a personal basis during his time at Triton. He truly had a passion for what he did for us and will leave a large hole to fill. I know that his dedication towards our company involved many personal sacrifices. He somehow found a balance between work and home life, something a lot of us have trouble doing. He spoke about both of you often, and was very proud of your accomplishments. I wish both of you well, and know that you’ll both succeed in reaching your goals.

I wish you comfort and healing in this difficult time in your life. Lon and I met through work and he intstantly impressed me with his knowledge and enthusiasm. I also know how much he loved the community of Spruce Grove, particularly when I told him we were going to move out here. He talked about his passion for hockey, soccer, and you two in particular and how proud he was of your accomplishments. In your difficult days ahead think fondly of your father and continue to make him proud in all that you do.

Dear Lydia, Travis, Chad and Family
I would have to say that knowing Lon will form a highlight in my memories forever. I have met only a small number of Lons' family members and friends but in some way I believe I know so much more about all of you. The road time to Calgary, the trips across this country and just the time spent together allowed Lon to tell me a lot about his lifes experiences. I know these snipets of his experiences will slip into my everyday life and he will come to mind so often, and I will smile.
Lydia your son is someone that made the world a better place and improved it for most that he touched. Travis & Chad you were so lucky to have a role model that looked at life with such a positive view. Remember and it will assist you as you go forward.
I will miss the long chats but more the positive feelings he projected even when he was not having a great day.
The 1873's won't be the same.

Dear Chad & Travis, and Ziegler Family,
I met Lon about 6 or 7 years ago, and what a blessing it was! He had an incredibly positive outlook on life, and was such an amazing dad. His charisma, sincerity and warmth gave comfort to everyone who had the pleasure of having met him. How tragic it is to hear of his accident.
I realize there are no words that can console your deeply broken hearts at this time. Please know that you are all in our prayers and thoughts, now and forever.
Eternal Rest grant unto him O Lord. May perpetual light shine upon him, and may his soul rest eternally in peace.
