Lonnie R. Goodwin, 49, of Grandview, Iowa, died Monday, March 21, 2005, at his home.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 25, 2005, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home, 1931 Houser Street, Muscatine, Iowa. Chaplin Anna Bradshaw will officiate the service. Honorary bearers will be Dave Tharp, Jack Lewis, Mario Vasquez and Eric Brown. Burial will be at a later date.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2005, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Iowa City Hospice, 1025 Wade Street, Iowa City, IA 52245. Online condolences for the Goodwin family may be left at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.
Lonnie was born July 8, 1955, in Monmouth, Illinois, the son of Leonard Goodwin and Dorothy Boggs Branscom. He married Mary Jordan Lange on November 21, 1987, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
He was a graduate of L&M High School and later graduated from DeVry Technical School in Chicago, Illinois.
He was employed at IPSCO Steel.
He loved his grandchildren. He enjoyed NASCAR and Formula 1 Racing, bluegrass music, and working on cars.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Goodwin, of Grandview; one son, Michael Lange, and wife, Hansi, of Wilton, Iowa; one daughter, Marci Phillips, of Grandview; five grandchildren, Abby, Katie, Emily and Mallory Lange and Levi Phillips; three brothers, Jim Branscom, George Branscom, and Bob Goodwin; and one sister, Mary Brown Mehalovich, and husband, Jack, of Johnston, Iowa.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Joe.
