Lonnie "Shane" Holcomb Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 10, 2022.

Lonnie "Shane" Holcomb sadly passed away on May 8, 2022 at the age of 48. Beloved husband of Kim for 28 wonderful years. Loving father of Garrett (age 21), Skylar (age 17), and Addisyn (age 9). Dearest brother of Jerry (Vickie) Cornett, Tammy Holcomb, and the late Bobbie Cornett, and Tammy Cornett. Cherished son of the late Fate Holcomb and Joyce Simpson. Loving uncle of Jacob, Zachary, Joey, Nathan, Andrew, Hilary, and many more.

Shane was a friend to everyone, he was shy at first but once you got to know him, he was your bestfriend. There wasn't a person that Shane wouldn't lend a hand to. He was the kind of person to give you the shoes off his own feet if you were in need. Shane donated his time to anyone that needed it and he served as many people as he possibly could. He is a veteran from the United States Marine Corps of which he is very proud. He also volunteered a lot of his time to his church, Kirby Free Will Baptist Church in Flat Rock, MI. He was the most generous, loving, kind, and funny person around. He was the best husband, father, and brother that anyone could ever ask for. He will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 11, 2022 from 2:00-8:00pm and the funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at 11:00am located at Howe-Peterson Funeral Home Taylor Chapel 9800 Telegraph Rd. Taylor, MI 48180.

I worked in the Computer Room as a Process Control Assistant at the Detroit NDC when Shane became the supervisor there. His door was always open if I needed help or someone to talk to. I knew about his health problems and of his love for his family. He was a good man in so many ways. He is truly missed.

Shane will truly be missed, gone to soon and will never be forgotten. Shane was my Manager in Maintenance at the Detroit NDC for several years. We worked together on lots of projects. He was a good person. He loved his family so much, always talked about Kim and his kids. Showed me pictures that his kids made. I will continue to pray for his family.

Kim, our kids all share smiles at school, and it is an honor to have met both you & Shane before on a field trip. Shane played dodge ball that day. He courageously, engaged a large group of happy 3rd graders that beautiful autumn day at Kensington. Such a fun time! I pray that you and your strong young man & beautiful daughters are encouraged with fun memories, and will on purpose today and every day that follows this very difficult time of losing your husband, and their dad, to press in to the Word of God, and promises found in HIS precious Word. HE will comfort and bring peace! You all are so loved by God and I love you too!

Shane was my supervisor in the computer department at the Detroit NDC the last two years I was there before I retired in 2020. His door was always open for me to come in and talk. If there was something you were having problems with and he knew how to do it, he was willing to show you how to do it. I wish I had known him longer.

Shane was a dear friend of mine whom I had the pleasure of working with at the Post Office. I worked in Local Services and when Shane would call me he would always say that’s my friend with the hook up. So, every time he would see me he would call me “the hook up”.

My sincere condolences to the family. Rest peacefully my friend.

I met Shane at work in 2006. Shane was my “boss” at work but I considered him more of a friend. How could I not? Over the years I had some family issues and Shane was always there to help me out. I’ll always remember him for that.
Prayers for the entire Holcomb family.
