Lonus Valentine Obituary
A native of Causby, Tenn. he was a son of the late Daniel Henderson Valentine and Effie McKinney Valentine. He retired from E.P. Press in Gastonia and was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church. Mr. Valentine served in the U.S. Army 8th Infantry Division of Golden Acorns in Patton's Third Army.
In addition to his parents, grandson, Victor L. Valentine, brothers, Orie Valentine and Lawrence Valentine and sisters, Gertie Smith, Hazel Hale, Zola Starnes, Ressie Adams and Cleta Valentine preceded him in death.
He is survived by wife of 76 years, Janie Dameron Valentine of the home; sons, Lonus E. Valentine Jr. of Cherryville and Ray Valentine of the home; grandchildren, Dane Valentine and Vevette Leonhardt and husband, Steve, all of Lincolnton, and Velvet Champion and husband, Tommy, of Cherryville; and great-grandchildren, Trenton and Haley of Cherryville.
Visitation: The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 9 at Cleveland Funeral Services from 6 to 7 p.m.
Funeral: Thursday, July 10 at 2 p.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church
Burial: Cleveland Memorial Park

I grew up in Ascension Lutheran Church with Lonus Valentine, and what a special man!!!! He was always one of my favorite people to see at church! He was never seen without a smile or that infectious laugh of his! He will be missed! My thoughts and prayers are with each of you during this time of grief. May God comfort you all. With love,
