Loren "Paul" Wurzman

Loren "Paul" Wurzman, known fondly as "Doc," went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at the age of 70. He was a brilliant man, earning a B.A. in Psychology from Hobart College and a PhD in Neuropsychology from Vanderbilt University. He also completed an internship in Neuropsychology at the Yale School of Medicine, a Fellowship in Neurology at the University of Wisconsin/Madison School of Medicine, and taught at Hahnemann Medical College. He moved to El Paso nearly 40 years ago after accepting a research position with the U.S. Army. In 1983, he and his wife at the time, Ilyana Jacobson, had a daughter, Loryana Lynn. He was always incredibly proud of his daughter and treasured spending time with her and her husband, Andrew, who he affectionately referred to as the son he never had. He also enjoyed a special friendship with his girlfriend, Sarah, and the two loved praying together, visiting at her lakeside cabin, and traveling the world. He is remembered for his warmth, kindness, caring, intelligence, amazing memory for details, sense of humor, wisdom and counsel, and faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Sylvia Wurzman. He is survived by his daughter, Loryana and son-in-law, Andrew; sisters, Linda Sherry (Dennis) and Karen Krieger; nieces and nephews: Tania, Melissa, Jennifer, David, Emily and Max; and girlfriend, Sarah Hernaez. A memorial service was held on Saturday, January 18, 2020. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that donations be made to Elsa's Hope, a nonprofit made up of volunteers who help care for members of the cancer community who are facing the difficulties of cancer treatment. Fue un hombre brillante que obtuvo una licenciatura en Psicología de la Universidad Hobart y un doctorado en Neuropsicología de la Universidad de Vanderbilt.
