Lorenzo E. Di Cecco
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lorenzo E. Di Cecco, on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, following a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Lorenzo will be lovingly missed and fondly remembered by his adoring wife of 48 years, Raffaella, and his daughter, Alessia (Justin). Lorenzo will also be deeply missed by his two grandchildren, Dante and Allegra, by his mother Mirca Di Cecco, his sister, Anna Maria Braithwaite (William), and his brother, Alessandro Di Cecco (Catherine). Lorenzo will be sadly missed by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Maria Rosaria De Pasquale, John De Pasquale, Enrico De Pasquale (Rose), Dr. Joan Murphy, and his absence will be deeply felt by his nephews, Paul (Isabelle), Giampiero (Joanna), Gianrico, Roberto, Marco, Conor, and his niece, Mary Kathleen, many friends, former clients, and fellow practitioners. Lorenzo immigrated to Canada from Italy at the age of seventeen, quickly learned to excel through university and law school, practised law for several years, was appointed a Criminal Court Justice of the Ontario Court of Justice, and later served clients as a criminal defense lawyer. He was deeply principled, and always sought to advance the fundamental ideals of the administration of justice. Lorenzo was a voracious reader and avid student, continuing his legal education obtaining a Masters of Law Degree in his retirement. In addition, Lorenzo was honoured to be a Knight Commander Grand Cross of the Order of the Holy Sepulchre. The family will receive friends and family at Trull Funeral Home, 2704 Yonge Street, Toronto, Ontario M4N 2H7 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, October 13, 2017. A Roman Catholic Mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Parish, 24 Cheritan Ave, Toronto, ON M4R 1S4, at 1:00 p.m. with a reception to follow for family and friends. Lorenzo's family would like to thank Dr. Ronald Burkes, Dr. Anand Govindarajan and the dedicated staff of Mount Sinai Hospital. Those who wish may make memorial donations, in memory of Lorenzo DiCecco, to Mount Sinai Hospital Foundation, Oncology Research Fund (Dr. Ronald Burkes) or Dr. Anand Govindarajan Research Fund.
