Loretta Ford

On behalf of the Society of Air Force Nurses, please know we are mourning with you the death of our sister nurse, Dr Ford. It takes a patriot, willing to give of themselves to other human beings in their time of need, to step forth and join the ranks of our U. S. Army Air Force Nurse Corps. Your beloved one will be mourned and missed by many who served alongside her. We will include her name in our Memorial Program of the Society of Air Force Nurses in commemoration of her life and service to our nation.

My sincerest condolences to Dr. Ford´s family. So many nurses are eternally grateful for Dr. Ford´s foresight in elevating the nursing profession to the practitioner level. I, for one. Her endeavors will never be forgotten.

The role of Nurse practitioner has added depth, dignity and caring of our patients to a level unforeseen but so desperately needed and accepted. Thank you for being a pioneer in promoting Nursing in the advanced care of humanity.

Dr Ford was a true icon. Her legacy will live on in each and every Nurse Practitioner who is able to care for our patients in this special way and do what we do because of her vision , her fierce determination , her tenacious grit and true chutzpah!
