Kind-hearted, caring, always smiling, articulate, academically excellent and musical; we both sang in the school choir and madrigal group. Lori will always be remebered as a beautiful human being and my best friend for many years at King George V school (KGV) Hong Kong. Rest in Peace Lori.

So very saddened to read of Lori's passing. We were best friends for two years at school (KGV) in Hong Kong aged about 12-13, until I left for boarding school in England. She was incredibly nice, never got angry. We both used to read avidly so I wasn't surprised that she ended up as a writer and teacher. Vale Lori. Best wishes to you Kristi and Brent if you remember me - Isobel Morris.

Professor Ambacher taught my core literature course at Gordon College. I´ll always remember her gentleness, wisdom, compassion, and contagious love of reading and writing. Reading and discussing Harry Potter and the Sorcerer´s Stone in her class is one of my favorite college memories. Professor Ambacher created a safe space for students. She was always mindful of students´ needs and supported us however she could. For one assignment, we had to create a PowerPoint and give an oral presentation. She offered to read students´ scripts and scroll through their PowerPoints if they did not feel comfortable talking in front of the class. That kindness is rare. She will be so missed.

Lori was a 30-year member of the "Thursday Nighters" a writing group founded by Andre Dubus which continued to meet after his death in '99. Her stories, essays and poems were extraordinary, and never had she been closer to publishing her collected work. Her fellow writers hope to help that happen in the not too distant future. There are no words for how much she is missed.

Such a beautiful, beloved, humble servant of Christ. She will remain in our hearts and be a mentor for many lives. A colleague and friend who will remain in our hearts forever.
