Lori Larsen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 19, 2025.
Lori Ann Larsen, age 65, died on August 12, 2025, in Dunedin, Florida. She was born on November 15, 1959, to the late Bill and Dolores Larsen. She is survived by her loving brother, Larry. Lori was raised in Detroit, Michigan, and moved to Florida in her teens, graduating from Dunedin High in 1977.

After graduation, Lori returned to Michigan and pursued various careers, such as waitressing, which she was extremely proficient at. She eventually decided to become a recording engineer. Her path led her to Nashville, Tennessee, where she attended Nashville Tech. During her time in Nashville, she worked as an intern for numerous recording studios, assisting in recordings for artists like Randy Travis and other country musicians.

Lori graduated from Nashville Tech with honors, top of her class. At that time, she was recruited by the Army Corps of Engineers to become a hydro dam control room operator. Lori accepted a position at the Wolf Creek Dam in Russell Springs, Kentucky, where she built a beautiful home on the Cumberland River.

Lori stayed at Wolf Creek for over 25 years. During her employment, Lori assisted with the Hurricane Katrina Recovery and trained many new hires. After retirement, she decided to move back to Florida to be with her mother, father, and brother, Larry.

Lori loved the outdoors, especially the beach. She enjoyed activities like camping, biking, hiking, snowboarding, karate, and wakeboarding. Lori had an amazing sense of humor and loved to entertain and travel. She also loved taking her boat out on the Cumberland River, hunting for driftwood. Music was her passion. She was extremely knowledgeable in many musical styles. She was a gourmet cook who loved experimenting with different recipes, always adding a side sauce. Lori was also an animal lover and had cared for many stray cats throughout her life. Her true love was her beloved golden retriever, Sadie.

Lori was a generous and kind person who loved her friends and her family unconditionally. Lori was thoughtful and never had a negative thing to say about anyone. Lori will be truly missed.

Dear friend, it's been too long since we communicated and now I'm writing to you as someone who will miss you on this planet very much. Such good times listening to music, dancing, hiking, cooking and sharing food with friends, talking about animals, caring for animals, and I was just mentioning your name not a 3 days ago because you created a piece of Lake Cumberland driftwood into a gift tree when I moved away from Russell County. You told me it was a money tree and there were $5, $10, and $20 bills tend on to the pointy ends of the beautiful driftwood. It was a going-away present in a housewarming present at the same time and I'll never forget that kindness. I was just repositioning the driftwood in my front flower bed here in Louisville the other day and once again told the story of the gift tree. Good luck in your next life and your forever home in the heavens wherever you may drift and do come by my porch and ring the chimes. You were a beautiful spirit and now even more so. I'm so sorry you had to go. All my love, Cindy Lamb
