Lori Maxwell Obituary

Lori Maxwell, of Springfield, died peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, in Colleyville, Texas. She was 57 years of age.

Lori was best known for her gift of design for interior decorating and landscape architecture. Her skills were featured in multiple magazines over her years, and were frequently called upon by her friends and family. She achieved the title of Texas Master Gardener after a lengthy course of study, and volunteered her services to design and decorate many public spaces within her communities.

Always the gracious host, Lori loved to keep her social life busy, and frequently entertained in her home. Many of the quick friendships she made along her journey lasted her a lifetime. She is remembered as a kind spirit who cared not for labels or prejudices. To Lori, everyone was deserving of compassion, and she often showed it to those who were working through difficult times. She participated in National Charity League, was the president of her children's Parent Teacher Association, held several church positions, was a member of numerous neighborhood associations, led her kids' athletic support groups before they attended college and donated time and money to various philanthropies.

Her professional career was focused on technology education and documentation. She held positions of increasing responsibility within prominent corporations such as IBM, Microsoft, Coca-Cola and Nestle Foods. Her most notable project was establishing, building and leading a regional technology training center for the greater Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Her time at Culver-Stockton College prepared her for her professional life; there she studied psychology and was active in Alpha Xi Delta sorority, as well as many other clubs and activities.

Quincy was very special to Lori. There she established her foundations and many friendships that would last her through the rest of her adult life. While attending Quincy Senior High, she participated in student council, choir and theater and competed at the state level in track and field. She will always be remembered as a model wife and mother, dedicated daughter and big sister, and lifelong friend that left us all too soon.

She is survived by her mother, Lucille Schroeder of Elk River, Minn.; her husband, Phillip Maxwell of Colleyville; two children, Jonathan Gurnik of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Lauren Moseley of Chicago; and her sisters, Lenae Johnson of Elk River and Nicole Jett of Coral Springs, Fla.

Lori was preceded in death by her father, Wayne Hutchison.

Our hearts are heavy knowing that Lori, with her bright smile, has left us far too early. But she has fought with dignity and grace and is now free of the pain that she has lived with for the past few years. Peace be to her memory. God be with you Phil, Lauren and Jon as you mourn your wife and mother.
