Lori Milkie Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 24, 2025.
Lori Verna (Donnelly) Milkie died on September 19, 2025, after a brief hospitalization. Lori was born on January 1, 1954 and was the youngest of the five children of the late John Eugene and Evelyn Veronica (Mulvany) Donnelly. Her older siblings were Jeanne, Jerome, and Deanne, all of whom predeceased her, and John, Jr. She lived her entire life in the Chicagoland area. After high school, Lori studied business skills at the Illinois Visually Handicapped Institute. For a good number of years, she happily worked at the Chicago Lighthouse for the Blind doing word processing.

Lori married Anthony (Tony) Milkie on July 11, 1987. Throughout their marriage, Lori and Tony shared a mischievous sense of humor and a love of music. He preceded her in death on September 9, 2009. Lori had a talent for writing poems, especially about Tony and her beloved guide dog, Serena. As a devout Believer, she greatly enjoyed listening to spiritual broadcasts on a daily basis and sent books and spiritual guides to cherished family and friends. Lori gave to those in need, including donations to aid children and families in need of winter wear.

A highlight of recent years was her trip to California in 2023 to attend a dinner and concert with Pat Boone, a singer she absolutely adored. Lori's family gratefully recognizes the care and friendship of Linda Sandoval. Linda and Lori were lights in each other's lives. Lori had a deep faith in Jesus and is now at peace in the arms of her Savior.

Lori was sweet, fiesty and fiercely independent.
She enjoyed hearing stories about my grandma who went blind in her 50's and also remained independent living alone in a high rise building in Los Angeles. Glad to have known Lori!

Lori was one of a kind, who never wanted to be a burden to others and made sure you knew it. A real firecracker that just wanted to be someone´s friend . You will be missed and I´m glad I met you and got to experience the Lori way .
Many Blessings
