In memory of
Christie Minervini
December 13, 2008
Our heartfelt condolences go out to Lori's family and friends. I first met her while working for Traverse Magazine and later when she helped to get the Traverse City Film Festival off the ground. She was always warm and quick to smile, and I was most impressed by her selfless promotion of others and their causes -- you could never say 'no' to Lori!

I'm so sorry for your tremendous loss. I hope you can find some solace in knowing Lori's spirit lives on in the memories of the countless people around the world whose lives she touched. For me, she was a journalistic role model at the State News and in our pursuit of the "big" stories in London. We slept on the sidewalk to get a good view of Andrew and Sarah"s wedding, celebrated my 21st birthday at the Hard Rock Cafe and trekked around the English countryside driving on the wrong side of the road. I can still hear her laughing.

I am so saddened to hear of Lori's passing. Lori was one of my favorite people in high school. She rode my bus and we shared so many laughs and dreams on so many bus rides. What a gifted person she was.

Shannon,
I am so sorry to hear of Lori's death. My mom, Carol Morgan, always gave me an update on how Lori was doing every time she ran into you in Davison! Her career was always of special interest to me, since I had wanted to go into journalism but had to settle for book publishing due to my own health problems. I was thrilled to know that Lori had done so well and had become such an accomplished journalist and writer. As I was reading the beautiful stories written about her in the Record-Eagle and Flint Journal, I could only think that she had truly lived life to the fullest and left behind many friends who loved her. To me, that is the mark of a special person. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

My deepest condolences to Lori's family. The world is a richer place because of her skills as a writer and editor and because of the warmth and humor she used when sharing her skills. Years ago, Lori taught me the power of a well-placed dash. How a sentence fragment can be used for emphasis. The most beautiful thing I remember about Lori was how she instinctively knew just when the break the rules. She lives on forever in her evocative prose.

To the Hall, Steele & extended family: I had the privilage of meeting many of you through Lori's father, Don...& I have such wonderfully fond memories of the love your family shared with one another. Your ability to shine in the face of such darkness & your ability to reach out to others when your own hearts were hurting so badly was a tribute to Christ himself. When I heard about Lori's passing, I must admit that after the initial shock subsided, I had to smile, finding comfort that Don has his girls firmly in his loving hug...what a Home-coming for Lori. But for those of us left behind, we can only push onward, sharing the love those who've gone before us have left in our hearts; love that's so imiportant and nurturing to the human spirit....love that was so well demonstrated by God's child, Lori. It's been my honor to say that I knew her. To her family: may God's blessing's be yours now & always.... Thank you all.

Please accept my condolences. Lori was a great friend and I love her dearly. Some of the happiest times of my life were spent with Lori ... getting into mischief at Michigan State, getting our start as young reporters at the State News, traveling to London and covering a royal wedding and moving to Travers City. So many good times and so many memories that I will cherish forever. It had been too long since Lori and I had talked and I had been missing her. I will continue to miss her. I'll always remember her beautiful smile, infectious laugh and generous spirit.

I wish to express my Sympathy to both the Hall and Steele Families.
I graduated with Dave. But I had several classes with Lori and I enjoyed getting to know her. It is great to see she was able to do the traveling she yearned to do in High School. It never makes sense why some people have so little time. Just remember you will see her again!
The heavens have gained a bright star!

I will miss that smile and those words of encouragement. What a gift it was to me to have gotten to know her, albeit a short time. She is a sprite, an uplifting spirit. Thank you for the image of her laughing and dancing wherever she is now.

Lori and I became acquainted during the first TC Film Festival when we were, together with my daughter, Heather Shaw, on the "Founding Committee." I so came to admire her and her work and was just told recently she was the best "editor" in the area. I am grateful for her friendship too with my daughter and know that friendship meant a great deal to Heather as well. Everyone involved has been through so much, most of all Lori of course, and my sympathies go out to all of you. Her talent, her personality, and her wit will be very much missed by everyone.
Love,
Sandy Hardy
