LORNA LAINE EWELL

June 30, 1942 - August 16, 2025

Lorna Laine (Krein) Ewell died peacefully surrounded by family August 16, 2025, in Portland, OR.

Lorna was born in McPherson County South Dakota to Otto and Frieda (Wiest) Krein of Wishek, ND. In 1949, the Krein family moved to Portland, Oregon, where Lorna would spend much of her life.

Lorna graduated from Jefferson High School in 1960, and was soon married and raising a family in the Parkrose area. After arriving in Parkrose, Lorna became a devoted member of Resurrection Lutheran church and was an avid supporter of Parkrose Little League, Parkrose area athletics, and the Parkrose High School music department. Lorna retired from American Honda after 20 years of dedicated service.

Lorna was in a loving & devoted marriage with the love of her life, Guy Ewell, until his passing in 2003. Love bloomed again unexpectedly with high school sweetheart, Neil Kristensen, until Lorna's passing.

Aside from work and volunteering with church and community, Lorna was most passionate about being a mother and grandmother. The years spent with her family were the most enjoyable years of her life.

Lorna was preceded in death by her husband, Guy; sister Pamela (Stan) Cassity; granddaughter Courtney Laine Ruscigno; and brother-in-law Dave Vincent. Survivors include her partner Neil; sons, Steve (Tammy) Ruscigno, David (Candice) Ewell; daughter-in-law Lona (Dave) Zaretki; grandchildren Kaylah, Jenna, Angus, Caitlyn, Chase, and Emerson; siblings Karen Vincent, Cynthia Maples, and Richard (Pam) Krein; niece Denise (Todd) Hanson; nephews Daniel Vincent, Brook (Heather) Swinford, Patrick (Carla) Cassity, Jacob (Alicia) Cassity; and many beloved extended family members and friends. She will be greatly missed as she was loved by so many.

A Celebration of Life for Lorna will be held November 29, 2025, at 2pm at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 1700 NE 132nd, Portland, OR 97230.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial gift in her honor to: Parkside Little League, PO Box 20204 Portland, OR 97294.

Lorna was my first cousin. Her father Otto and my father Don are brothers. We enjoyed so many family times and more recent get togethers. Lorna was always so much fun and my husband named her and her sisters "his golden girls".

She will be truly missed and may she rest in the loving arms of our Lord and Savior.

We love you Lorna!

Lorna and I had a shared bond, the loss of a granddaughter. That solidified a long friendship which I dearly cherished. We cried together, laughed together and enjoyed being together. I shall miss her and the friendship we had will not be forgotten.
