Lorna Mack Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 3, 2025.
Lorna Jean Mack (nee Wing), of Jacksonville, Florida passed away July 27th, at the age of 68.

She was preceded in death by her father Elwin Wing, her mother Roina Wing Berube, brothers Manny and John Wing.

Lorna is survived by her loving husband of 36 years Michael Mack, her daughters Qiana Watts-Exson (James), Bianca Conner (Shannon) and Ariane Williams (Daniel); her grandchildren Aaron, Grace, Aydan, Aria, Avery, Damien and bonus grandchildren Dylan and Delia Jackson, and Jacari and Jasmine Exson ; brothers Jeff (Sandy) and Tim Wing; along with a host of nieces and nephews.

Born in Leeds, Maine but she'll tell you Lewiston. From the moment she was born her dad said she wasn't going to stay in Maine; he was right. She graduated from Bates College. She married and moved around the country. She loved and wanted to visit all of the countries that started with I. She got to some of them. She kept reminding us though that Isle of Man was next on her list.

Mom (Lorna) loved reading and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved Bob Dylan and Prince, jazz music, all music really. She was a great sewist. She loved fashion, carousel horses, sea turtles and turtles. She was a breast cancer survivor and she made sure everyone knew it. She was extremely crafty. She was Martha Stewart before we even knew who Martha Stewart was. In the last three years she received her Doctorate's so she'll tell you that she was a doctor and wanted to be addressed as such. She was fluent in ASL. She was an avid believer in educating oneself.

I could go on and on about Lorna Jean but I'm sure that would need a book. Qiana is capable of writing a book if its needed.

In closing Lorna was an enigmatic and complicated woman; someone to aspire to be if you knew her. Charamastic and engaging. She always just said what was on her mind; take it or leave it. There is no one that has met her and hasn't found themselves somehow touched by her.

I am at a loss for words for multiple reasons. Bianca and I grew up together and Lorna was so much fun! One of my favorite memories of her was the time she took us to Universal Studios for Bianca´s birthday. We had such a great time during the Mardi Gras Parades. I very much remember the Prince love. I am sending my heart out to my oldest friend and her family right now. My condolences.

I met this human angel on my first cruise through a mutual friend of ours Will Redding. She welcomed me with open arms and made me feel loved and cherished. She gave me advice about my life and career. She was always giving me positive affirmations and uplifting me. She was an amazing woman and I will never forget this beautiful soul. I love and miss you Lady Mack!!!

I worked with Lorne for several years and she and I became good friends. I will miss her heave northern accent in our conversations.
RIP Lorna.
