Lorny Ness Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 10, 2024.
Lorny William Ness, devoted father, husband, son, and brother, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, MN surrounded by his loving family. Born March 24, 1960 in Austin, MN to Larry B. and I. Joan M. (Dunker) Ness, Sr. He grew up in the Austin/Lyle MN area for most of his life, where he made many great friends and caused a lot of trouble with his 3 brothers and sister in his younger years. He moved to Albert Lea his senior year and graduated from Albert Lea High School with high honors in 1978. After high school, he enlisted in the US Marine Corp where he served as a Private First Class in San Diego, CA and Okinawa, Japan until being honorably discharged in 1982. After his time in the Marine Corp, he moved to Kansas City, MO where he met the love of his life, Jackie Underwood. After dating for only 4 months, they were married on June 21, 1984. They welcomed 2 daughters, Joann, and 16 years after that they welcomed Jillyan. Jackie, Joann, and Jillyan were the lights of his life, and he was their rock and protector. Throughout Lorny's life, he had a range of different jobs such as being a general manager at Zantigos/Taco Bell and Hardees and various delivery driver jobs, but he found his true passion working in IT as a Database Operator for Hormel, Jostens, and Medtronic. Lorny was a very proud grandfather of his beloved grandson, Carter. Lorny also enjoyed other hobbies such as going golfing with his son-in-law Troy, being outside and taking care of his yard, playing his drums, watching both Sci-Fi and horror movies with his family, and was an avid Vikings and Twins fan. He is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Jackie (Underwood) Ness; his mother, I. Joan M. (Dunker) Ness; his daughters, Joann (Troy) Ramaker and Jillyan Ness; his grandson, Carter Ramaker; his 3 brothers, Larry (Deb) Ness Jr, Lee Ness, and Lowell (Cheri) Ness; his sister, Lori (Jim) Tusa; as well as his 4 aunts, Evelyn (Ness) Bollinger, Judith (Dunker) Uher, Carleen (Dunker) Austinson; uncle, A. Michael Dunker; and his many loving cousins, in-laws, nieces and nephews who all meant the world to him. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Albert and Ethel Dunker, Ingvald and Alma Ness; his father, Larry B. Ness Sr; and his uncles, Dwayne A. Ness, Russell Ness, Dr. Carmen O. Ness, and Alexander Bollinger, Sr. A Celebration of Life was held on Saturday, April 13th, 2024 at 3005 142nd Lane NW, Andover, MN 55304. Flowers and cards can also be sent to this address. Lorny will be greatly missed by all who loved him. Goodnight and sweet dreams dad, we love you more. Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, 763-421-0220, www.Thurston-Lindberg.com
