It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother Lorraine Alice Barrett on January 7, 2014. Lorraine slipped away peacefully with her husband and all her children by her side. Lorraine was predeceased by her parents Henry and Hannah Epp, her sister Elma Buhler, brother Helmer Epp, brothers-in-law Stanley Buhler and Dave Thiessen, parents-in-law Lawrence and Elizabeth Barrett. She is survived by her loving husband Cecil Barrett, their children Allen (Lenora) Barrett, Ron Barrett, Don Barrett, Pam (Lorne) Quiring, Vanessa Barrett, Barb (Trevor) Anderson, Ken (Kathy) Barrett. Her grandchildren Morgan (Rylan) Schaller, Azya Barrett, Brayden Barrett, Brent, Darren and Leanne Quiring, Hayley and Taygen Anderson, Brooke Barrett, and great- grandson Jude Schaller. Brother Don (Jane) Epp, sister Velma Thiessen, and sister-in-law Sarah (Pete Wiens) Epp. Plus numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Lorraine was born on November 15, 1939 on a farm near Langham, Sask. She married Cecil in 1964 and started their large family the following year. Lorraine was born to be a mother and kept control of her seven children. Lorraine loved to garden, can, tend to her flower beds and camp in the summer. In the winter she loved to sew, crochet, and quilt. She loved game shows and boy did she love to watch her curling. Lorraine loved spending time with her grandchildren and taught them many things. She was an excellent baker and always had fresh buns or cookies on hand. Lorraine was a devoted Christian and faithfully attended church. Her presence will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The family of Lorraine would like to thank all the staff at RUH and St Paul's Hospital who cared for her. A celebration of life will be held at the Zoar Mennonite Church (110 1st St. E. Langham, Sk.) on Saturday January 11, 2014 at 2:00 pm. A viewing will take place at the Dalmeny Funeral Home (139 3rd St. Dalmeny, Sk.) on Friday January 10th at 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either the building project for the Zoar Mennonite Church or the Canadian Cancer Society (101 440 2nd Ave N. Saskatoon, Sk (S7K 2C3).
