As a 20 year old college student in Columbus, I got to know Lou a little bit when he visited our coffee house run by jazz guitarist Warren Stephens. This was in the '60s. By invitation, my future wife and I traveled to Dayton to a club to hear him play. I remember it as if it was yesterday...a very special memory, a very special man and a very special jazz saxophonist.

My favorite story was when I met him at our family reunion and my aunt was so happy to meet him and to know that he was a cousin. Sincerely, Julia Ruffin by way of Michigan.
