Louis BALENA Obituary
April 1, 1939 - March 6, 2014
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Louis on March 6th at the Royal Victoria Hospital, after a short but difficult illness, at the age of 74 years.
He leaves to mourn, and will be lovingly remembered by, his daughters Christina (Christopher Chancellor) and Alison, his son Patrick, his granddaughter Lauren, his sisters, brothers-in-law, many nieces, nephews, and friends, and all those whom his life touched in a six decades' career as an educator. Visitation on Tuesday March 11th, 2014 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm, funeral service will take place on Wednesday March 12, at 11 am in the chapel of the Funeral home followed by interment at Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a contribution in his memory may be made to the charity of your choice. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten by his family and friends.

I was a student at Laurier in the early 70s. My father passed away in 1973 and Mr Balena came to collect me form the classroom. I remember how caring he was when he announced the news to me. I'll never forget that kindness he had shown to this very young girl. May you Rest In Peace.

God bless your soul Luigi, it has been a great honor to have met and knowing you through our good friend Maria. I remember the lunches and the pleasant talks we had half in English, in Italian and also dialect of Summonte Avellino...........the smoke meat at Abbie in St Jean, the lentils soup at Mary's house and the Italian food I prepared for you,
I miss you Luigi and I will remember you forever. Rest in peace, the Angels will lead you in the Paradise Heaven and you will see the Light the Glory of God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and Our Lady the Virgin Mary like my father Paolo that passed away on Saturday March 1 at the age of 91.
