AGE: 80 Years • Collingswood, formerly Camden
On February 12, 2015; Beloved husband of 53 years to Patricia (nee Dragone); Devoted father of Louis Cappelli Jr., Esquire, Lynne Ann and her husband Dr. Joseph Sireci; Cherished grandfather of Louis III, Gabrielle, John, Zachary, Julia, Mia & Joseph; Dear brother of Ida Fortini & Gloria Cappelli ; Caring brother in law to Irene & Jerry McKee; Predeceased by his late sisters Connie DiGiacomo & Virginia Fanelli; Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews & wonderful friends.
Prior to retirement, Louis was employed for BHPRSD with Triton High School for 34 years. He began as Vice Principal and spent his remaining 24 years at the school as Principal. Louis was a proud member and past President of the Order Sons of Italy Lodge 494 and the State Lodge. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Cerebral Palsy School of Camden County. Louis was a Board of Trustees member of Camden County College, and lastly served as a past President of the Collingswood Board of Education. Louis was well known and loved by many. His family will forever hold onto the memories of his love of his Italian culture and the enjoyment of making homemade wine. FAMILY was everything to him.
Relatives & friends are invited to the Visitation & Funeral on Monday from 6 to 9 PM and Tuesday from 9:45AM to 10:45 AM at the Blessed of Teresa Calcutta Parish-St. John's Church location, 809 Park Ave, Collingswood, NJ 08108. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM. Entombment Calvary Cemetery in Cherry Hill. The world has become a lesser place with the passing of Mr. Cappelli, who was my high school principal while I attended triton High. He always had a smile on his face when greeting his students, was fair and honest, put the students first, and disciplined firmly but kindly.
Working in administration at a school district for many years, I had the opportunity to see first hand how principals govern their schools....some did it well, many others not so much.
Mr. Cappelli was the gold standard....he will be missed!

To the family of Mr. Cappelli, my sincerest prayers are with you. I was a '73 graduate of Triton High School. My mother Mrs. Colavito and Mr. Cappelli were good friends during my 4-years at Triton. There are no set of words better than the ones listed below to describe a man that was kind, considerate, just a phone call away and willing to help if and when he could. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Cappelli some years ago and I always remembered that "twinkle" he had in his eyes. He made everyone feel comfortable, important and welcomed. A graduate of the Class of '70 from TRHS, I remembered Mr. Cappelli to be fair, funny, friendly, his office always open to any of us who had needed him (for anything), strict, disciplined, and a man who held the school together! Every day was a pep rally with Mr. Cappelli. Our time together at Triton was always filled with enthusiasm, energy, and a contagious spirit that kept the best interests of the students first. Administration, faculty, and staff worked as one under his leadership. It was truly a special place, with special people and an extraordinary leader. He will always be in our hearts. He was full of spirit, kindness, and joy! He made our school a place of unity. So happy that I got to see him last fall at our 25th reunion. He hadn't changed a bit and was still so full of spirit.
