NWAyer was Lou Hagopion. The agency was never the same when he retired.

There are two eternities fighting the fight of creation, the light projecting itself into the darkness and the darkness enveloping itself within the light. Lou was of the first kind. He brightened my days on the General Motors account during my brief time at Ayer. I will always remember him fondly. Tim Koranda

I just learned with great sadness of Lou's passing. I was his secretary for over 20 years, from the time he came to New York until he retired, and life was never dull. His contributions to N.W. Ayer as
well as to the advertising industry as
a whole will be remembered by those who
knew him, respected him and loved him.
I plead guilty to all three.

My deepest sympathies to Joanne, Tom,
Susan and Matt.

I was saddened with the news of Lou's passing. He was one of a kind. As "captain" of NW Ayer, he was always approachable and would give any one time that was due. He was fun, spontaneous, and an all-round good egg. Blessings to family members. Know there are many that hold you close and whose lives were touched by Lou (aka Mr. Hagopian).

I worked with Lou for 30 years in Philadelphia, New York, Toronto, Chicago and London. Lou framed the character of NW Ayer's fine work with our strategic method, Human Contact. It said everything about him. Still does.

I am so sorry for your loss. Please be assured God "cares for you "and will comfort you at this time as 1 Pet. 5:7 says.

I was saddened to learn of Lou's passing. In the 24 years that I spent in the ad agency business, my eleven at NW Ayer from 1980 to 1991 were the best. It was an agency known for a spirit of camaraderie and such an environment is fostered from the top, which was from Lou himself. He truly cared about his people and his goal to max out profit sharing for all Ayer employees every year had a positive impact on many lives, including that of my family. He was a gentleman and class act in every respect. My sympathies go out to his family for the loss of an inspirational man.

So many of us who worked at NW Ayer look back at that time as a wonderful period in our careers. Lou Hagopian set a tone that was progressive and warm-hearted.He brought out the best in people, and Ayer's finest days were under his leadership. The quality of work that was done there will always stand the test of time, due to the standards he set.

What a great guy! I grew up next to Sue, Tom and Matt and Lou would come out and toss the football. I think he invented the "Tree Play". He was always fun, quick witted singing or dancing... I know he enjoyed final 4's with his boys and golf at Wee Burn.
Our deepest sympathy to the family.
He had a life well lived....

Sending love and deepest sympathies to the entire extended Hagopian family. His loving family, friends and legendary career are a testimony to the great man he was. To Tom and your family- Your father and grandfather was a giant of a man- of great vision, talent, humor and grace. He put NW Ayer on the Madison Avenue map, moving the agency from Philadelphia to New York City and upgrading it with the people and the creative work to make it win awards. I earned my advertising chops at Ayer for 17 years right after I graduated college, mainly because of the culture and excellence he created. What a giant of a man

My deepest condolences to the Hagopian family. When I was 23 years old, just beginning a career in advertising at N.W. Ayer & Son, Lou greeted me personally and asked how I was doing. His genuine interest came through many times during my 20 years at Ayer. It was a legendary agency; he was a legendary leader. He is sorely missed by all he touched with his words and songs.

We were so saddened to hear the news about Lou. He was a good man and a great leader. I enjoyed his company immensely. We shared common backgrounds from being sons of immigrants who fled their countries under siege. We were both caddies, went to Big Ten schools and became Naval Officers. We loved golf and he did his best to improve my swing. To no avail. But he always made sure we played together at events because we always had a lot of laughs. To Joanne and his children, he was a great husband and father. Margo and I send our deepest regrets, love and kind thoughts in this saddest of times.

I saw Mr. Hagopian's obit in the NY Times today. I worked with him many years ago at NW Ayer in NYC, and happy that he had a nice long life and with his wife. He did love to sing and I remember one day at the office Les Brown (the band of renowned) visited him and I even got an autograph.
I am happy Mr. Hagopian has all his family members with him and I know they have suffered quite a loss.

January 12, 2016

I have known Lou for almost 60 years. When it was time for me to go to work, Lou arranged an interview for me with N.W. Ayer in Philadelhpia. That didn't work out but when I joined Newsweek in New York, he made certain I was properly introduced. We played some golf, and he visited me in London on more than one occasion. A fine man and a good friend. My condolences to his family.

While I saw Lou on only a few occasions, I can attest to his great wit and talent at telling a story. His only rival was my friend Tom James. My condolences to Joanne and the rest of Lou's family. They should be comforted by the great life legacy he left them.
