Louis Hartz

HARTZ - Louis Frederick, age 90 years, passed away peacefully at Luthercare Communities on Monday, August 22, 2005. Louis was born at Haultain District, SK on February 28, 1915. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force and was stationed in Halifax where he served as Sergeant. He retired from a long career at the Saskatoon Transit System as a mechanic. He spent his retirement traveling to Egypt, Europe, the Mediterranean, Australia, New Zealand and Hawaii. Louis spent many hours in his vegetable garden, making wine from his many fruit trees. He enjoyed spending time keeping up his Custom Royale Dodge he bought new in 1958. He would drive out to the Haultain Church to tend the graves of his family members. He also enjoyed playing the harmonica. Louis is survived by his children, Karl and Louise Hartz; his nephews, Bill, Walter and Bob Heise, Willie and Garfield Eckert; his nieces, Betty Selbee, Emma Eckert, Nita Rougeau and Bea McVey; as well as numerous great nephews and nieces. Louis was predeceased by his parents, William and Elizabeth Hartz; his siblings, Emily Heise, Ernest Hartz, Caroline Eckert, Christina Hartz, Emma Hartz, Louise Hartz, William Hartz and Tillie Hartz; his son, Terry Louis Hartz; and his nephews, Herman Heise and Harold Eckert. Karl and Louise would like to thank the staff of the Lutheran Sunset Care Home for all their care and attention as Dad failed. To all his friends and family who helped him live independently in the house he built in 1952. To our Mother, who overcame differences, to help us as Dad struggled in his later years. A Visitation will be held on Friday, August 26, 2005 from 1:00 2:00 p.m. from McKague's Funeral Chapel (Third Ave. and 20th Street) followed by a private family interment service at Haultain Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to John Janex of McKague's Funeral Chapel (664-3131).
