Louis A. Link

age 93. Beloved husband of the late Nancy Link; dearest father of John (wife Susie), David (wife Kathy) of Jupiter, FL, and Mark (deceased) (wife Tish); loving grandfather of Louie, Jenny (husband Logan), Gillen, David (wife Megan), Jackie (husband Matt), Griffin, Corrin and Christopher Link; loving great-grandfather of Cole, Carson, Grady, David, Connor and Braxton; devoted uncle to many; dear brother of Frank and Mary Ann, both deceased.
Louis joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1951 and retired in 1972 with the rank of Major. He served in combat in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War, where he received the following commendations: Navy Commendation Medal w/ "V",
Navy Unit Commendation, Good Conduct Medal w/2 Stars, National Defense Service Medal w/1 Star, Korean Service Medal w/3 Stars, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Presidential Unit Citation, Vietnam Service Medal w/1 Star, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star Medal w/ "V", Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Medal w/Palm.
The education and training Louis completed was: High School – 4 years, graduating in 1948, Truck Mechanic – 12 weeks – 1951, Principles of Diesel Engine – 1955, Fundamentals of Automobile Mechanic – 1956, NCO Leadership – 4 weeks – 1958, TV Engines – 1959, Introduction of Personnel Administration – 1959, Officer Basic Course – 1960, 2nd MWO Screening – 6 weeks – 1961, Basic School – 10 weeks – 1961, DOC #2-61 – 9 weeks – 1961.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Louis' name to The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 425 Literary Road, Suite 100, Cleveland, OH 44113.
Services will be Sunday, October 1, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at the SCHULTE & MAHON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 5252 MAYFIELD RD., LYNDHURST (BETWEEN RICHMOND AND BRAINARD). Interment private, Ohio western Reserve National Cemetery, Seville. The family will receive friends AT THE FUNERAL HOME SUNDAY FROM 12 Noon until time of service. SEMPER FI
