Louis RIOPELLE Obituary
Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at the age of 63. Louis is survived by his loving and caring wife of 43 years, Victoria (nee Jones); his son Paul (Sarah); his daughter Tiana (Carl); his grandchildren Emma, Benjamin, Taylor and Justin Kay and Olivia. He will be sadly missed by his sisters Lucille "Lou" Leduc (the late Robert), Claire Backes (Gerry), Monique Lavallée (Gerardo) and Annette Belair (the late Richard), his godsons Joey Jones and Michel Belair, as well as many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces and friends. Louis was a proud employee of the City of Ottawa for 37 years, most recently as Program Manager Lotteries. He was actively involved in his community, having served as President of South Nation Chiefs Minor Hockey, President of Orleans Little League, President of Ottawa Jr. Canadians Tier 2 Hockey, President of Ottawa Jr. Canadians Jr. B Hockey and Chairman of Champlain Board Ontario Trillium Foundation. His most cherished accomplishment was as manager of the Orleans Little League, which won the Canadian Jr. Little League Championship and then represented Canada at the Junior Worlds Series in 1992. The family will receive relatives and friends at Heritage Funeral Complex, 1250 Trim Rd., Orléans, on Friday, November 6, 2015 from 4 - 8 p.m. The funeral ceremony will be held in the Heritage Chapel on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Canadian Diabetes Foundation or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. The family wishes to sincerely thank the doctors and nurses of the Ottawa Heart Institute and of the Ottawa Hospital General Campus for their care and compassion. Vicky and family I was shocked when I heard the news of Louie's passing just last week, Louie was a great friend who made a significant contribution to Amateur Sports in this City. Dear Vicky and family-My regrets not being able to pass on my condolences in person. Lou made a great contribution to kids and sports. I will not forget the great year the junior baseball team he assembled and lead to so much success. It was so much fun as it was such a great community event. The great parents and kids that Louis brought together to make it happen. I will never forget those memories. Thanks Lou.

I want to express my deepest sympathies to the Riopelle family over the loss of Louis: Husband, Dad, Grandfather.....He worked along with my Dad, Art when they were bylaw inspectors for the City of Ottawa...I babysat their kids from way back when, and even though I haven't met him recently, I can honestly say that this man will indeed be missed.
