Dr. Louis A. Williams

Dr. Louis Andrew Williams – 89, of Ringgold, Georgia, formerly of Highlands, North Carolina, passed away, Friday, April 4, 2014, in a Chattanooga, Tennessee hospital.
He was born on May 9, 1924, in Lafayette, Georgia to the late Molly (Abney) and Lloyd Willams. He graduated from Lafayette High School, University of Georgia and the Medical College of Georgia.
He was employed as a Medical Doctor of General Family Practice with Dr. Thomas A. Cochran of Ringgold, Georgia and also served as a Medical Doctor with TVA of Chattanooga and Kingsport, Tennessee.
A veteran of World War II, he was a recipient of the Purple Heart Award.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Highlands, North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Robbie Hunsucker, of Ringgold, GA, and siblings, Oscar Williams, Bob Williams, Bea (Williams) Oliver, all of Lafayette, GA, Ruby (Williams) Shipp, of Rossville, GA, Lottie Mae (Williams) Maxey, of Lafayette, GA, and Myrtle (Williams) Spangler, of Daytona, FL.
Survivors include his wife of of 62 years, Virginia (Harrell) Williams, of Ringgold, GA, and Highlands, NC, son, Chuck and Cathy (Bryson) Williams, daughters: Pam (Williams) and Bill Guinn, Millie (Williams) and Glenn Cheek, all of Ringgold, GA, grandchildren, Heath Williams, of Chattanooga, TN, Kristin (Williams) and Randy Overton of Chickamauga, GA, Brad and Lizzy Cheek, of Ooltewah, TN, Lezlie (Cheek) and Matt Fry, of Smyrna, TN, Elizabeth (cheek) and Jamie Ference, of Black Mountain, NC, Alexandrea Cheek, of Ringgold, GA, Trevor and Heather Guinn, Trent and Holly Guinn, Tracey Guinn Walker, all of Fort Oglethorpe, GA, and brother Jim Williams, of Soddy Daisy, TN.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday in the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Bailliff officiating. Interment will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South with Heath Williams, Jamie Ference, Brad Cheek, Trevor Guinn, Matt Fry, Russ Gowin and Randy Overton serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m., Saturday and from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
