Louis Wong

Louis Wong, 74, of Lafayette, CA passed away in the early morning hours of Wednesday, March 1st. He is survived by his beloved wife, Penny, children, Scott, Sara (Jack), Samantha (Ian), and Sophia (Marco), and grandchildren, Isla and Elliott. Lou immigrated to Hawaii at the age of eight, where he spent his childhood and adolescence before moving to New York to study mechanical engineering at Columbia University. His pursuit of his M.D. brought him back home, where he graduated from the University of Hawaii School of Medicine in 1975. Lou went on to do his medical residency at UC San Diego, where he met his future wife. Shortly after residency, they set down roots in the Bay Area and Lou began his 33 year career as an Otolaryngologist.Lou had many loves and passions in his life. He had a deep appreciation for mechanics and an affinity for cars - Porsche in particular. Give him some time and he could engineer a solution for almost any car or household maintenance issue. Second to none, however, was his love for his kids and grandkids. Nothing else made his face light up with a look of joy and pride like them. His legacy will live on through them.A celebration of life will be held in his honor in early April.
