Louisa Hines Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Nov. 19 to Nov. 22, 2013.
Louisa G. Hines, eldest daughter of Ernest D. and Fleda M. (Worthen) Hines, went to be with her Lord Nov. 13, after a long struggle with poor health. She attended Brockton schools and graduated with high honors from Brockton High School, and graduated from Mass Memorial School of Nursing three-year course with an RN degree. She was a Cadet Nurse during WW II and spent six months at Camp Edwards. She worked at Brockton Hospital and from there she spent three years in Lanta, Egypt, as a missionary nurse from the Presbyterian Church affiliation. When she came home, she attended the Eastern Nazarene College and graduated with a B.S.N. and member of Phi Delta Lambda. She worked at all phases of nursing - Brockton Hospital, Brockton Public Health, Goddard Memorial Hospital and then went into Social Service at Goddard Hospital, which merged with the Good Samaritan Hospital. Her greatest love was for her God and Jesus Christ and this was demonstrated at the First Church of the Nazarene in Brockton, where she was an active Deaconess, taught Sunday school, was treasurer and president of the Nazarene World Mission Society, and started Nursing Home Ministry at Braemoor Nursing Home. After retirement, she was a faithful volunteer at Good Samaritan Hospital for many years where she received several awards and in 2006 Caring with Excellence Community Member Award. In 2008, she moved to Maine to live with her sister Barbara Morrison. Louisa is predeceased by her parents and dear sister Esther Hines Hill. She is survived by her sister, Barbara; nieces, Marion Wolle and her husband David of Marietta, Ga., Mimi ONeill and her husband John of Albany, N.Y., Aleta Grenier and her husband Jeff of Sidney, Maine; nephews, Glenn A. Morrison and his wife Robin of Palermo, Maine, and Matthew H. Morrison of N. Vassalboro, Maine; many grand and great grand-nieces and nephews. Her funeral service will be held at the First Church of the Nazarene, 89 North Pearl St., Brockton, at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery. Visitation has been omitted. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the First Church of the Nazarene, 89 North Pearl St., Brockton, MA 02301.
