Joseph Robert Pirollo Jr.

 

Joseph R. Pirollo, Jr., age 84, of Broomall PA, formerly of Drexel Hill, PA, passed away on October 8, 2023. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Carmella (nee Pinto) and Joseph R. Pirollo, Sr.

 

Junior’s life was marked by a profound love for music, a warm heart, and an unwavering dedication to his family.  He was the lead vocalist of South Philly Doo Wop group, Jr Pirollo & the 4J’s and was known as one of the best lead vocalists to come out of Philly.  In later years, he went on to perform in local venues with the Bill Frio Trio as well as performing solo.

 

He was known for his compassion and a heart as big as his voice. His presence could light up a room, and his laughter was contagious. Junior had a unique ability to make everyone feel welcome and loved making friends and connections everywhere he went.

 

Aside from his family and music, he also enjoyed cooking, reading, trivia, word games & puzzles, history, travel and going to the shore. Junior loved watching detective shows, cooking shows, game shows, and the history channel. His family meant the world to him, and he loved being surrounded by his loved ones.

 

Junior was the beloved husband of Josephine (nee Pulcinello) Pirollo; loving father of Joseph R. Pirollo, III (Madeleine White) and Veronica Pirollo (Nick DeMarco); adoring grandfather of Joseph N. Pirollo, Claire Rodgers, Genevieve Rodgers, and Nicholas DeMarco. Also survived by his siblings Anthony Pirollo (Irene Parto), Marie Finizio (Robert Finizio), and Patricia Cosenza. Predeceased by his siblings Dolores Pytlewski (Joseph Pytlewski), Nicholas Pirollo (Ann DiNicola), and Joan Carini (Joseph Carini).

 

Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 9:30-10:00 AM on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at St. Pius X Church, 220 Lawrence Road, Broomall, PA 19008, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM. Interment Private.
