Louise Genell "MawMaw Nootsie" Johnson, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and great-grandmother, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023. She was a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Kentwood. She was retired from AT&T with 30 years of service. Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Zachary, on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2023 from 4 pm until 8 pm and continues on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023 from 9 am until 12 pm conducted by Bro. Bryan Bixler and Bro. Mike Morris. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker. She is survived by her 5 children, Richard Johnson (Lynette), Rodney Johnson (Suzanne), Melanie Johnson (Darryl), Mark Johnson and Bertie Fontenot (Lloyd), 4 sisters, Lillian, Sharon, Sarah, Patty and her sister of the heart, Juanita Sequin, 13 grandchildren, Wendi, Brett, Eric, Kevin, Kristin, Michael, Brian, Derek, Deanna, Brooke, Lauren, Dustin and Cody and 23 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a son, Lionel Johnson, Jr., parents, Lester and Hazel Varnado, a sister, Shirley Higgins and 4 brothers, Dewey, Jerry, Butch and John Lester Varnado. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and honorary pallbearers will be Leon Causey and Billy Prestridge. She was a member of Foster Road Baptist Church.
