Louise Svatko Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 25, 2013.
Everyone's life is the sum total of all of the people they have met, the things they have done, the places they have gone. Louise Agnes Svatko was no exception. She was a loved one, a friend and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Louise will be remembered as an exceptional person.
Louise's life journey began on September 30, 1917. She first greeted the world in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Her parents' were Mary Kubina and Joseph Rerko. She was raised with seven siblings, Jess, Joe, Butch, Frank, Leo, Verna and Mayme. Louise was usually involved in all sorts of activities with her family sharing many life experiences over the years.
Louise was a typical teenager who had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. She graduated from Johnstown High School in 1936.
Falling in love is a huge milestone for any person. Just knowing that you have met that special someone is a magical feeling. Louise experienced that with Alexander Nicholas Svatko and the couple exchanged wedding vows on September 29, 1941. The wedding took place at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Empathic and loyal, Louise was committed to making her new family happy.
While everything a person does in life contributes to who they grow into, it is ultimately this same person who holds the most influence on the next generation. Louise was blessed with five children, three daughters, Mary Louise, Judith and Patricia, and two sons Alexander and James. Louise worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs, raising her children in a positive and nurturing environment. Later on, Louise was blessed with the gift of eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren
A person's hobbies often mirror who they have become. Louise enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in a number of different activities, including making blankets, exercise, shopping, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Louise would do anything for her family and enjoyed working at home as a house wife and loving mother. Louise considered it a huge accomplishment to be a breast cancer survivor.
Louise Agnes Svatko left us on April 24, 2013. She passed away at home. She was 95 years old. The cause of death was due to natural causes. She is survived by her son James and daughter in law Karen, Daughter Marilou and son in law James, Daughter Judi and son in law Lance, Daughter Patti and son in law Don.
Services were handled by Glen Abbey Mortuary. A Catholic Funeral Mass was held at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church on May 6, 2013. Louise was laid to rest at Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita, California.
So this is Louise's life, the sum of the woman that became. Simply stated, Louise was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being caring and giving, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Louise leaves behind her a legacy of lifelong friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life Louise Agnes Svatko, touched, will always remember her with a smile.

Love 2 Live Care Services

Sweet and lovely are words that accurately describe Louise but hardly do her justice. We had the pleasure of sending quality caregivers to spend time with her for the past five years. We will forever remember Louise's soft voice and bright smile. Many thanks to Louise's family, specifically Patti, who loved her so much and made sure she was well cared for. We will certainly miss our lady in pink!

Louise Agnes Svatko
September 30, 1917 – April 24, 2013
Wife, mother, grandmother, Nana, Pink GG, and friend, Louise Svatko, surrounded by her loving family, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 24, 2013. Louise was married to the love of her life, Alexander Svatko, and had five wonderful children, eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander, and their son, Alex “Sandy”. She is survived by her son, James and his wife Karen, her daughters, Marilou and her husband James, Judi and her husband Lance, Patti and her husband Don, and daughter-in-law Peggy; grandchildren Steve, Mike, Kimberly, Rekha, Bryan, Matthew, Nicole, and Kimberli; great-grandchildren Josh, Kelsey, Laura Ann, Toby, Kaylee, Sara Elizabeth, Gavilan, and Kaden.

Louise lived a full and beautiful life. She was born on September 30, 1917 in Johnstown, PA to Mary and Joseph Rerko, the youngest of eight children. As a young woman, Louise was a cheerleader, a volleyball star, and even tap danced in a variety of minstrel shows. She survived the Johnstown Flood of 1936 by riding out of town on the last trolley car. Louise and Alex moved to Chula Vista in 1950, driving across country in a Woody with 3 babies, diapers flying, and a dog in the back. Louise was a wonderful homemaker, where family always came first. Louise had a giving nature and helping others made her the happiest. She helped out as hostess at her son's fish restaurant, was active in TOPS, the Center for the Blind, and St Rose of Lima's Alter Society. Louise was a huge Padres fan, enjoyed Lawrence Welk, and loved to dance. Louise touched many lives with her compassionate ways. If you had a problem she was always willing to lend a sympathetic ear, was never judgmental, and served as a prayer warrior for those in need.

Viewing and Rosary are scheduled for Sunday, May 5th from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Glen Abbey Mortuary, The Little Chapel of Roses. Funeral service will be Monday, May 6th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 278 H Street, Chula Vista. Interment and reception at Glen Abbey will follow.

If you would like to honor Louise, please say a prayer for her and her family. Louise will always be remembered as our Sweet Angel.
