Louise Utter Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 13, 2008.
DELHI _ Louise M. Utter, 64, of Delhi, passed away on Friday, Sept. 12, 2008, at O'Connor Hospital, Delhi.
Louise was born on May 24, 1944, to Lynn and Hilda Bryden. She was raised on the family farm on Elk Creek Road and attended Delaware Academy, graduating in 1962.
On Nov. 20, 1966, Louise married Francis Utter Jr., also of Delhi. The couple had two children, Abby and Heath. They owned and operated a plumbing business until Francis' death in 1989.
In 2007, Louise retired from her secretarial career and was thrilled to spend her days "puttering around the house," as she put it. On any given day she could be found in the kitchen with her white apron on, cooking up a delicious meal or a batch of cookies or scones. Louise spent hours upon hours reading magazines in which she found new and exciting recipes and decorating inspiration. Nothing pleased her more than a big sale! She delighted in keeping an immaculate home and beautiful flower gardens. Great joy was found in entertaining company in her home.
Louise was diagnosed with advanced ovarian cancer in November 2007 and fought a courageous battle. Surgery, chemotherapy and many complications later, she left this world with only one regret: that she wouldn't get to see her grandchildren grow up.
Left behind to live with memories of life with her, Louise leaves her children, Abby Eggler and Heath Utter, and her grandchildren, Bennett and Madelyn Eggler and Haley Utter; her mother, Hilda Bryden (Koenig); sisters, Evelyn Klumpe and Anita Hitt; nieces, nephews and many friends.
There will be no calling hours, per Louise's request. Louise composed her own funeral service years ago, including some of her favorite hymns. Her wish was to have the service at her church, Immanuel Lutheran in Delhi. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 16, with the Rev. John Priest officiating. A private burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Delhi. Following burial, next to her father and brother, a luncheon will be held at the church.
Contributions in her memory may be made to Becky's House, 296 Hackett Blvd., Albany, NY 12208 or the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
Arrangements are with the MacArthur Funeral Home, Delhi.

My thoughts and prayers are with the whole family. Know that God's love has given Louise peace and a world free of pain. She will be smiling down on us and be our special angel. I will miss my "special dancing partner" at all those great special events. So many found memories to hold dear to my heart. May God bless you all and give you peace and comfort during this time of sorrow.
