Lowell Klapperich Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 11 to Jan. 12, 2023.
Lowell passed away suddenly on December 19th 2022 from his third and final heart attack. He was at home with his family.

He was born in Renton, Washington to the late Laurence and Neva (Worlie) Klapperich on March 15, 1957. He was the first of the Klapperich Klan to be born in Washington. The Klapperich family hailed from Conde, South Dakota. He grew up in Kent, Washington. He attended Kentridge HS and Green River College. He spent his career in the Automotive Aftermarket Industry starting as a tire technician with Goodyear Tires and moving into various sales positions over the years. His fondest memories were with KYB and Hastings Filters and the lasting friendships he took with him. He retired as a regional sales manager. Lowell married Pattie Younger on September 21, 1991 at their home in Auburn, Washington. They were married for 31 years and resided in Graham, Washington since 2004.

Lowell was preceded in death by his parents Laurence and Neva, his siblings (sisters) Joyce Cregeen, Mary Wintermyer, Vicki Hicks and (brothers) Larry, Dale. His In-laws Bob and Iris Younger. Kit Beresford, Lowell's previous wife who sadly passed at an early age. Bitters, his Balinese Siamese cat and Gifford the rescue corgi that sang Amazing Grace with him preceded him as well. Uncle Erdon and Aunt Nina who gifted him his new teeth when his natural ones failed him so he could smile that smile he shared with everyone have also passed on.

Lowell is survived by his wife Pattie, son Toby Goetz, daughter Kaitlin, and Fresno his last rescued corgi. Also surviving are his siblings and their spouses (sisters) Dolores Paul, Joan McIntyre, Denise and her husband Jim Jackson, (brothers) Ron and his wife Roberta, and Keith and brother and sister in-laws Gene Hicks, Debby Klapperich and Jan Klapperich. He is survived by his cousins and many, many nieces and nephews and many good friends and great neighbors.

His greatest joy this past summer was his road trip to visit cousins and family in South Dakota and Minneapolis. His only regret was he no longer had his Harley to do it on.

He was a Diehard Seahawk 12 fan and never missed watching a game. He would watch each game with his buddy Bitters, his cat that would sit in his lap and the two of them would eat dry roasted peanuts and red vine licorice together.

Lowell loved watching the wildlife that surrounded his home and the peacefulness of country life after being on the road away from home for many days and weeks. He loved to dance and sing at any opportunity. He could recall music lyrics, movies and lines from the characters in them giving the gift of laughter to many. His hidden desire was to be a weather announcer. He could make a room fill with laughter with that one.

Lowell will be remembered as quick to laugh, an ability to make a new acquaintance feel like an old friend and radiating warmth that could bring you in like a hug you didn't know you needed.

His last act of selflessness and kindness giving to others was his willingness to donate a gift of life and health through tissue and cornea donations to LifeCenter Northwest and SightLife.

The family requests that you share how Lowell touched your life as he has touched ours by signing the memory book so Lowell's legacy can live on. Or if you prefer, plant a tree in his memory and think of him and smile as it grows & blossoms.

Go gentle into the night my love and know you have touched many. Write it on your hearts, that the ones you love are the most precious gifts in life.

While there are many different roads that we take in life, it is those that have walked with us that make the journey worthwhile. We wish the journey could have been longer...

I got to stand with you on a mountain
I got to bathe with you in the sea
I wanna lay like this forever
Until the sky falls down on me

Truly, Madly, Deeply by Savage Garden

I still miss you even after this time. You were our first sibling born here in Washington, and I kind of adopted you and cared for you when you were born. I have several pictures of me holding you after you were born. You were a good baby and that characteristic lasted your life-you were always a friendly person to everyone. I still can't believe you are gone and I will miss and love you always.

Lowell, my friend, you are so very missed. I can honestly say that you left this world a much better place, just by being here.
I have known Lowell for many many years, as he was the husband of my very dear friend, Pattie. His friendship also extended to my husband and two sons, who were delighted every time Lowell and Pattie, Toby and K.K., stopped by. He had a way of making everyone feel so relaxed and included. My husband and Lowell would act like a couple of kids, gabbing about everything automotive.
Lowell also had a soft side to him, as well. When my Jim was diagnosed with a fatal disease, I shared the terrible news, and my tears, in person with Pattie and Lowell. After exclaiming the horrible news, I cried, "This is going to end his life." Lowell said with a hug, "It could...but not today." That simple.and concise thought helped me so much. There are so many things that I could share here.
My family loves Lowell, Pattie, Toby, Kaitlyn, and sweetie Fresno. I consider them family. Peace and love to them all. My heartfelt thoughts and prayers also go out to Lowell's brothers and sisters. Be at peace.

My thoughts are with you all. I know Lowell as an awesome Brother- In-Law he was married to my sister Kit. He was the best thing that ever happened to my sister and the Beresford family. He gave such love and joy to my sister and us. His laugh his sense of humor, jokes and of corse his wonderful smile.
Me and my husband John, Kit and Lowell made many trip in the blue Nova to Mount Rainier together, hiking and enjoying the views. In addition we remembering Tubby Hot Tub Rental business (Lowell came up with the name) we had with them and my brother and his wife Wayne & Lynne. He will be missed greatly! You are now one of our Angles

I have wonderful memories of Lowell when we were younger. We would watch Saturday morning cartoons together. Dale, Vicki, Lowell and I. Lowell was always in my mind a softer, kinder, sweeter soul than Dale and I in those days. We would tease him mercilessly because it's what older siblings do. Mom would scold us for making him cry but we'd do it all over again the minute she turned her back. In later years even though we didn't get to see him much he always made a point to call us and wish us happy birthday. That was the last time I talked to him on my Birthday December 13 six days before he died. It is so hard to say those words because then it makes it real. I love you and will miss you. Rest in peace sweet little brother.

I have known Pattie since I was three and I think of her as a sister. I met Lowell a few months before their wedding and the first thing I remember was that great big warm smile of his, his blue eyes full of joy, his bear hugs, and most of all that he made Pattie laugh. I knew from that moment he was Pattie's guy. Knowing Lowell over the years has been a joy. He was fun, open hearted, generous, always made me laugh, and could answer any question about my car. His warm presence was a gift to anyone who knew him. I am very grateful to have known him and most grateful that he was Pattie's beloved. My heart is with you dear Pattie, Toby and Kk.

Lowell, fondly known as "Katy' s dad" was such a major part of my teenage years, even if he didn't know it. He and Pattie were always hosting a gaggle of girls at their house and never failed to supply us with food, anime, rides, and most importantly an abundance of love. Seriously, it radiated off this man. Thank you so much for being an awesome male figure in my life. I can only imagine how missed you'll be.

I've known Pattie since I was about 3. We grew up living across the street from each other. Life took us in different directions and we reconnected a few years ago. Such a blessing! I didn't just get an old friend back in my life, but she brought with her this amazing guy I immediately connected with. I'll remember fondly the concerts we went to, scattered visits over the past few years. Loved talking music with him.
My heart breaks for your loss but I count you lucky to have found Lowell. He was one of the good ones. He was a dear, dear man. I will miss him.

With deepest sympathy to Patti, Toby and Kaitlin. As also longtime next door neighbors. Lowell you have always gotten me out of some pickles I´ve gotten myself into. I will miss your laugh, our chats when we met in the corner of our front yards on our John Deers. I´m sure going to miss seeing your white glowing hair over the fence when you walked Fresno. You will be greatly missed. Great guy!

Our deepest sympathy to Pattie, Toby and Kaitlin. As longtime neighbors, I have memories of Lowell and Fresno in the backyard. Casual chats of beloved pets, to do lists and the frustration of being a haven for moles! Lowell brought a sense of unhurried calm to every conversation. You will be greatly missed.

My condolences to Patti, Toby and Kaitlin, his siblings, nieces and nephews. Lowell was always a caring and loving man and I´m thankful to have had him as my brother in law. His sense of humor was priceless!
My favorite memories of Lowell are Friday nights at his folks´ house for coffee and dessert, and Christmas holiday gatherings. There were so many good times then that were filled with love and laughter.
May Lowell rest in eternal peace and joy.

I was so fortunate to get to know my wild wonderful Seattle family that took me in as if I was one of there own when I moved there to live for a few years. I met them all at their Halloween party. Lowell was dressed as Sylvester! "Thuffering thucotash!" You were a favorite from then on and a fun cousin! Rest well my friend!

Lowell was a sweet brother thats how I think of him. He disliked conflicts. He kept to himself in later years so did not get to see much of him. I missed his laughing his joyful spirit. He will hold a special place in my heart. Wish you were still here with us. Love you brother Joani
