Loyda Ruth Grundhauser

Sparks - It is with great sadness that we share our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, cousin and dear friend, age 85 entered into eternal rest on January 29, 2025. She passed away peacefully at home in Sparks, with loved ones by her side. Ruth was born in Rodarte, New Mexico. She moved to Ely, Nevada in the sixties and settled the rest of her life in Sparks in the late seventies. She lived a long, full life, enjoyed her closeness with her daughter, her sisters and her cousins and was proud of her family. She was active, with her lifelong friends and family; singing in a band as a teenager, singing at family weddings and playing fast pitch softball with the Ely Royals in her younger mom years. In her later years, she enjoyed dancing weekly at the local senior dances for exercise and socialization. She became a SAVE member after she married William, for the Reno Police Department for almost five years. She loved patrolling the community with her husband. She took pride in keeping a clean home, enjoyed taking care of her yard, and loved gardening her many flowers. She loved hearing from her family and friends via telephone, especially reminiscing about their childhoods and younger years with her sisters and cousins, who were really bonus sisters.

Ruth is preceded in death by her former husband, Mike "Sparky" Bellino, sons Andrew and Baby Boy John Brown, her grandparents who raised her, Ismael and Libradita Gonzales, aunt Damaris Leyba, sisters Mary Fernandez and Sylvia Romero, father Jose R. Leyba and brother, Joe A. Leyba.

She is survived by her husband William, her children Ivan, Charles and Wanda (Eric) Brown, her step-children Mike (Debi) and Paul (Marietta) Bellino and Laurie (Steve) Lantgen. Sons Joe Eddie Leyba and Dale Arguello, grandchildren Madelynn, Isabella and Steven Brown, her beloved sister Ida Gurule, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She will be greatly missed, "Gone from our sights, but never from our hearts".

A Celebration of Life is planned for February 22, 2025 at the Water Bar on the Marina. Special Thanks to Simple Cremation in Sparks, Advanced Healthcare and Advanced Hospice of Reno for their care and guidance.
