My most heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Amy Shoemaker whose love for Lucas was steadfast, and whose tender care of him was from the depths of her very soul. Her love for him was self-less. He was a pretty guy swell too.

Lucas came in to my life via my best friend Amy. Through their relationship I was able to see what a pure, genuine, kind soul that Lucas was and will remain. The love he had for those around him and the love him & Amy had was something to aspire to, a true love in full. Lucas will be greatly missed, never forgotten and forever held as a true selfless gentleman. May he rest in peace, may his family & friends seek comfort and peace in this time of mourning. I'll never forget the way you loved my friend with all your heart and treated her beyond words of greatness and love, and the love reciprocated. I'll miss you Lucas, you sweet precious soul <3

Lucas was a great friend to all. His smile and humor was contagious. I will always remember the laughs we had at lunch in middle school with our group of friends. Even after high school when Chris and I would stop in and see him at work late at night and just talk and laugh. He will be greatly missed, it's not goodbye. It's see you later my friend. Prayers for his wife and loved ones during this difficult time.

When I came to Huntington I struggled to make friends. I tried but failed many times... That is until Lucas invited me to his table. He and his friend group are what got me through the next several years. I will never forget that. Within the last few months he has had the opportunity to share about his faith with me and I was happy he had peace in his heart about it. Praying for his wife at this most difficult time.

I met Lucas back in 2018 at Newport Music Hall in Columbus, OH. I tour the country in a Metallica tribute, and he showed up to that show and I talked with him afterwards. I could tell right away that he was extremely impressed with my band. We connected on Facebook after that and anything I would post about the band having a show or a video, picture, whatever - he was telling people about it and sharing it out on Facebook. If you go to his Facebook page, you'll see what I mean.

Just a few months ago I asked my wife to make him a custom band shirt and I had my printer make him a hoodie. We mailed it to him without telling him what it was. I just wanted to surprise him as a way of saying thank you for being so supportive over these several years. He messaged me and couldn't believe we had done that for him. He told me more than once he couldn't believe I was even talking to him. I told him I was just a man like anyone else.
No rockstar attitude. Our fans are the only reason we exist.

Lucas was a special fan to me. He struggled with medical problems and always put everyone else first since I've known him. All I ever asked of him was to fight for his health and give it the best he could - and he did. The last week of his life, he messaged me, his wife Amy was messaging me, and he just wanted to talk about my band and how he just knew we were going to get so big. It made me feel so taken back... I was at a total loss for words. Here was a man knowing his days could be over at any moment, and all he could do was talk about how much happiness my band had brought to his life and how he believed we would be incredibly successful.

It changes you when that level of belief and heart is directed towards you by someone who you would think would not be worried about a band at that point in time. I get tears in my eyes every time I think of him. I sent him a video message a couple days before he passed because he was too weak to talk on the phone. I couldn't help but cry during that message.

It makes me so sad to write this knowing I'll never see him again. I lost my dad 9 months ago, and Lucas reached out to me to give comfort. I lost my uncle the same week we lost Lucas. I will NEVER forget you or the way you have touched my heart, brother. Life brings us so much pain when we lose those we love. Your pain is over, my gentle, caring friend. You've earned that release, but we will miss you so very much.

Lucas was my cousin through marriage however that never stopped us from treating each other like we were blood relatives.
We would invite each other over for Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinner each and every year.
I am missing talking to him and to hear about his passing has thrown me for a loop.
I know he is up in heaven with his parents and grandparents and my stepdad Tom.
They are probably at the giant Golden Corral in the sky right now.
I'm really going to miss you bud.
