Lucille Barden Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 22, 2024.
It is with great sorrow to announce the passing of our loving, caring and brave mother Lucille "Lucy" (Ayotte) Barden. Lucy peacefully returned home to her heavenly father in the early morning of December 9, 2024 at her home in New Smyrna Beach, FL. with her son Rick, daughter Sandy and family by her side.

Lucy was born October 9, 1935 and grew up on Hudson St. in Lowell, Massachusetts.

Lucy is preceded in death by her parents Leo and Germaine (Pelletier) Ayotte, sisters Rochelle Ayotte and Doris Murray, her son Donald E. Barden, Jr, baby Linda Marie Barden and her husband Donald E. Barden, Sr.

Our Mother was a beautiful lady with a heart of gold. She had the greatest smile, her laughter brought joy, she was compassionate, caring and beautiful. Her love for her children was unconditional, we all were very blessed to have her as our Mom. We will miss her love and support. Lucy had a passion for working outside in the yard planting flowers, tending to her rose bushes, pruning, weeding and creating such beauty. She was strong and was not afraid to take on the tough jobs, she had a green thumb that could bring most anything back to life. She was an amazing woman with a big heart. Though she will be deeply missed, she will live in our hearts forever.

Lucy is survived by son Richard "Daniel" Barden and daughters Sandra Gitschier, Susan Jamros. She will be forever remembered and loved by her children, grandchildren Linda M. Gitschier, Vanessa "Barden" Quinzel, Rosie Jamros, Ronn Gitschier, Angelene Jamros, Donald Gitschier; great grandchildren Jasper J. Kramer and Hazel-Nyx Elba Kramer, sister Carol Manoly, along with many other family and friends who loved her dearly.

Memorial for Lucy will be held in the early summer in Virginia; where she will be laid to rest with her husband Donald E. Barden, Sr. and son Donald E. Barden, Jr. at Arlington Cemetery. Family and friends will be notified once full arrangements are made.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of our mother, Lucille D. Barden.

We only saw Lucy a few times when Donny came to Wisconsin to visit his cousins in Wisconsin. Just saw this and give our sympathy to all of the family members. We also met Lucy at their home in northern Fla. when we were in Florida visiting. Sorry for your loss. We also had a loss in our family on 1/23/25 when my sister Mary Tyson passed away.

So sorry about Lucille´s passing. We were childhood best friends and kept in close touch for many years. I tried calling her many times in the past 10 years leaving messages on the phone number I always used, but I never heard back and assumed she was no longer with us. I´d really appreciate hearing from Carol or anyone who still remembers me. Helen (Manning) Clancy (781)608-9003 or e-mail [email protected]. God Bless.

I have many fond memories of my Mom. I remember her laughter, the fun times with her and her sister Doris, playing Yahtzee, Sucker and Scrabble. I remember her love and support when my husband died, the friendship we built and hearing her say "you are my little miss sunshine." I love you Mom and miss you so very much. Give Ron a kiss for me.

I remember my Mom's love and support, especially when I lost my husband. I treasure the friendship we built, the laughs, playing yahtzee, sucker, scrabble, watching scary movies, especially the corny sci fi or sharknado. I will miss her hugs and when she called me her "little miss sunshine."
