Lucille Berry of Rutherford College passed away Sunday, May 27, 2012. Born in Avery County in 1926, she was the youngest child of Monty E. and Elva Ramsey Berry.
She was predeceased by her parents and siblings: Edna Bryant Bolick, Edgar E. Berry, Virginia McClure, and Earl W. Berry.
Miss Berry was a graduate of Cranberry High School, Clevenger School of Business, and Burke County School of Cosmetology. Hairdressing being her beloved career, she opened 'Rutherford College Beauty Salon' on Malcolm Boulevard in 1960 and later moved the shop to her home as she cared for her aging parents.
Lucille was well known for her knowledge of plants, herbs, and nutritional supplements.
She was devoted to her parents and her nieces Grace and Janet. We are grateful for her guidance and support in our lives.
Lucille was blessed in her later years with assistance from her nearby nieces and nephews: David Berry (deceased), Billy (Sandra) Berry, Pat (Garland) Walker, Gary (Marie) McClure, and especially Earl Wayne (Wanda) Berry, Jr. for his dedicated care and service to Aunt Lucille.
The last survivor of her family, Miss Berry is survived by many nieces and nephews, and great and great-great nieces and nephews who affectionately named her 'Aunt Loo Lilly'.
She was a member of Abernethy Memorial United Methodist Church.
