Lucille Silket Sterling, 77, returned to her heavenly home on October 28, 2014 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her throughout her life. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She will never be forgotten. Lucille was born on May 14, 1937 in Perthshire, Mississippi to George Lott and Elnora Shade. She was adopted as an infant by Payton and Nora Brown Silket. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and Coleman High School in Greenville, Mississippi. In 1969, Lucille moved to Pittsburg, California, where she eventually met and married Milton Sterling. They were wed for 37 years. She earned an associates degree in nursing from Contra Costa College in San Pablo, California and later a bachelors degree in health science from Chapman University in Orange, California. Lucille worked as a registered nurse at Pittsburg Community Hospital/Los Medanos Community Hospital for more than 25 years. She was a charter member and President of the Greenville Mississippi Club of Northern California. She was a charter member of the Phi Chapter of Beta Pi Sigma Sorority, Inc., where she served as Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee and Western Regional Director. She was also a member and Electa of the Order of the Eastern Star; Queen of the West Chapter #68. Lucille was immersed in the Christian community that would be her lifelong support from an early age. She served as a Church Mother at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church in Pittsburg, California. After she and Milton moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 2006, Lucille joined her husband when he reunited fellowship with the St. Mary Baptist Church, where she served as a deaconess. Words can never express the pain and shock I'm feeling . Lucille and I worked together at Los Medanos Hospital she was my supervisor, a great nurse. After they moved away we spoke always by phone. We shared so many things . I will always miss you, but I know you were sick. and God was ready to ease your pain. I miss you each day but I know you're busy with the Lord. Love forever!!! Paulene
