Dear Fred, Rebecca, Sam, and Family,
You have never heard my name but Cindy had a huge influence on my life. At Sem, Cindy was 2 years ahead of my friend Karen Speicher and me - and we didn't know her at school. But in the summer of '67 when Karen's and my parents sent us to Ogunquit, Maine, to work as waitresses in a quaint little inn called The Hillcrest, Cindy and her pal Polly Harvey were there waiting to mentor us in the fine art of serving lobster as well as help us get settled in "the bungalow" - a rustic one-bedroom shack that housed the waitresses and maids. Karen and I had never been away from home - and Cindy and Polly were willing big sisters, happy to counsel us about boys - and pierce our ears! Cindy made a lasting impression on me with her big heart and generous spirit. She was pure kindness in every way and it was natural to want to emulate her. That summer flew by. Cindy went back to college and Karen and I went back to Sem for our senior year. We never saw Cindy again - but over the past 45 years Karen and I often talk about that magical summer - and how Cindy was our guardian angel. Now that she is with the angels, I pray that that her love for you and your love for her will help you through your sadness. Please accept my sincerest condolences.
