Lucretia A. Serio

Wilmington - Lucretia A. Serio (Nardo), born on March 15, 1933 in Wilmington, DE passed away February 4, 2018 at home with her husband by her side. She was the daughter of the late William V. and Rose M. (DiBiaso) Nardo. On May 7, 1955 Lucretia was married in St. Anthony of Padua Church to Quinto (Queenie) F. Serio. This parish is where they chose to raise their family and was an important part of Lucretia's life.

As a long-term member of the church, Lucretia actively served on the Parish Council and the Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality for over 50 years, where she proudly served as president, as well as secretary and consultor. Her commitment to the Parish continued as a volunteer at the Padua Academy cafeteria, as well as the St. Anthony gradeschool cafeteria, where she was affectionately known as "Nana". Every year she looked forward to working at St. Anthony's Italian Festival and walking alongside the Sodality members in the Feast Day procession.

Lucretia enjoyed her trips to Ocean City, NJ, the former Brandywine Raceway, the Casinos, her weekly bowling leagues, and bingo. She also enjoyed watching baseball with her husband, cheering on the Phillies and their number one team, the New York Yankees. Above all, she loved spending time with her family, celebrating holidays and birthdays, and babysitting her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Lucretia is preceded in death by her brother, Daniel Nardo; brother-in-law, David DiDonato; and sister-in-law, Helen Nardo. She'll be dearly missed by her husband of 62 years, "Quin"; children: Fran (Lisa), Joe, Karen Silicato (Jimmy), and Rosemarie Propes(Rob); grandchildren: Anthony "A.J." Serio, Dante Silicato (Gwen), Joshua Silicato (Lency), Justin Paul Silicato (Courtney), Jenna Silicato (Joe), Tristen, Conner, and Brielle Propes; great granddaughter, Isabella Silicato; brother, William Nardo; sister, Marlene DiDonato; sisters-in-law, Angeline Nardo and Margaret Rapuano (Leon); aunt, Ursula DiGiacomo; cousin, Christine Spagnolo; along with many other cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A visitation will be held Thursday, February 8, 2018 from 10 AM - 12 Noon at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 901 N. DuPont St., Wilmington, DE 19805 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon. Entombment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations to St. Anthony of Padua Church. For directions or to send an online condolence visit www.stranofeeley.com
