Lucy Groseclose "Granny" Dishner MARION, Va. Lucy Groseclose "Granny" Dishner, age 88, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010, in Marion with her family by her side. She was born November 21, 1921, in Wythe County, Va., to the late John and Gracie Mae Umbarger Groseclose. She resided in Smyth County all of her adult life. She was a dedicated Christian and a dedicated member of the Stone Memorial Park Chapel. Lucy was a joy and delight to her family and friends. She was called Granny by many and will be missed by all. She worked at the Hosiery Mill in Marion but spent most of her life being a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend and dairy farmer. Lucy helped establish Dishner Dairies. She also loved her flowers and gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James C. Dishner; and several sisters and brothers. Survivors include: two sons, James Dishner and wife Thelma, Salem, Va., David Dishner, Marion, Va.; one daughter, Dianna Tibbs and husband Philip, Marion, Va.; two sisters, Minnie Uzzle, Mechanicsville, Va., Josephine Pruner, Marion; one sister-in-law, Leona Preston, Marion; eight grandchildren, Jim Dishner, Salem, Va., Jennifer Dishner, Roanoke, Va., Tony Dishner and Lamar Garcia, Austin, Texas, Todd Dishner and wife Sharon, Marion, Julie Dunford, Marion, Va., Jamie Hanshew, Marion, Jayson Tibbs, and Keira Brinegar, Marion, Joy Engstrom and husband, Carl Richmond, Va.; 10 great-grandchildren, Tyler Dishner, Evan Dishner, Landon Hanshew, Lakken Hanshew, Hanna Engstrom, Carr Engstrom, Keagan Tibbs, Katie Dishner, Abbie Dishner, Molly Dunford; many nieces, nephews and cousins survive. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, at the Bradley's Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. John DiYorio and Rev. Neville Mozingo officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
