EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Lucy M. (Surgen) Nelson, formerly of Miles Avenue, passed away peacefully with her daughters at her side on Oct. 26, 2007.

She was the wife of the late Frank L. Nelson.

Born on April 6, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Mary (Jacubec) Surgen. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Loreto Church.

She leaves behind her daughters, Karen Lima of Harwich, formerly of Seekonk, and Donna Stables of Mercer Island, Wash.; her favorite son-in-law, Jerry Lima; beloved grandchildren, Justine (Frank) Correia, Christopher (Lisa) Lima and Bethany (Matthew) Dawson; and five great-grandchildren, Christopher and Justin Correia, Alexandria Lima, and Kelsea and Abigail Dawson. She was also the sister of Irene Grimsbo of Portland, Ore., Henry Surgen of New Carrollton, Md., and the late Anna Surgen, Agnes Bozak, Raymond Surgen, John Surgen and Phillip Surgen.

Her funeral will be Tuesday at 8 a.m., from the Rebello Funeral Home, 901 Broadway, East Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9 a.m., at Our Lady of Loreto Church, Waterman Avenue, East Providence. Burial will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 4 to 8 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Loreto Church Memorial Fund, 346 Waterman Ave., East Providence, RI 02842.

The family wishes to thank the staff of St. Elizabeth Manor for the loving care given to Lucy. She will be remembered fondly by all for her sweet manner, kindness and charity. She was truly an angel.
