I remember so vividly Lucy's courage. We shared a few classes. I recall her with her husband, whose name escapes me, he blind and pushing her wheelchair. It saddens me that she is gone from this earth. Such an inspiration to everyone at Pitt. Nothing stopped this woman! I lost track of her (I was class of 68, MSW and class of 66 BS. in psychology) and we moved on to Iowa. I read about her death in the Pitt social work magazine that arrived today. My sympathy to her family and friends. A great loss for us all.

Lucy was one of my professor's last Fall (2014) and I thoroughly enjoyed her class. It was an honor to have been in her class and condolences to her family.

I am so sorry that I missed the viewing. I had the honor of working with Lucy at UCP and on Port Authority issues. She was a tireless advocate for people living with disabilities in all of south western Pennsylvania. She will be missed by myself and so many others who knew her.

I worked in Pittsburgh for nearly 30 years as a medical Social Worker, much of that time working with women and children. It seemed that everywhere I turned I'd find Lucy involved with another effort to improve the conditions my patients were dealing with. We were in many meetings over the years and she never failed to amaze me with her energy and commitment. I had Polio back in the early 50's and whenever I was tempted to feel sorry for myself over my limitations I think of her and all she'd accomplished with her limitations and I'd get over it in a hurry.

She will be missed by the many people whose lives she touched, including me. RIP Lucy, I hope that there is an afterlife where you are free from your chair and receive the blessings you have earned. Your life was a blessing for everyone whose life you touched.

I'm so sorry to read of Lucy's passing. She was an amazing woman who seemed to inspire everyone who knew her. It's been awhile since I've lived in Pittsburgh but I will never forget Lucy and her creative and hard-working family, as well as her contributions to her community and the entire city. My sincere sympathy to all of Lucy's loved ones.

I was deeply saddened to learn of Lucy's passing. It is a great loss to the community of people with disabilities whom she advocated tirelessly for. It is also a great personal loss, to her loving family and to those of us fortunate enough to call her friend. I will miss her spirit, dogged persistence, expert advise and consul, and her infectious laugh. You will be missed my friend, but your strength and spirit will live on, in the hearts of all the people you have helped and the lives you have touched. Godspeed my friend, may you rest well in the knowledge that you did all you could to make the world a better and more inclusive place.

Lucy was a good friend and great advocate for people with disabilities who never let her own disability stop her. I will miss our dinners together, our advocacy work together and her wise counsel.
