Luisa A. Silva, 95, of Las Cruces peacefully went to be the Lord on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 surrounded by family and friends. She was born May 12, 1915 in El Paso, Texas to Matias and Luisa Ronquillo Armijo. A communicant of the Roman Catholic Church, she was a member of the Sacred Heart League and the "Hijas de Maria" while residing in El Paso. She married Jose M. Silva and later moved to Hawthorne, California where she worked for many years with Sears-Roebuck as a shipping clerk. Luisa will always be remembered for her love of birds, especially "Chiquita", her parrot, and tending to her garden.

Survivors include her nieces, Paula Alba Roe (Don) and Yolanda Alba Vega (Ed); her nephews, Salvador Fernando Alba (Belinda), Ricardo Alba (Patte Anne), Armando Alba (Judy), Ramon Alba (Johanna), Abelardo Alba (Diana) and Eddie Alba (Kathy), as well as Marcos and Doroteo Armijo. In addition, she was loved and will be missed by many great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her sister, Angela Alba, a brother, Marcos Armijo, as well as a half-brother, Doroteo Armjio.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 25, 2010 in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road, where the rosary is scheduled for 6 p.m. Cremation will follow and a memorial mass will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 26, 2010 in Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral, 1240 S. Espina. Burial of cremains will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Salvation Army, 1590 E. California Avenue, Las Cruces, NM 88001.
