JOHNSON Luther E. Johnson, 80, Centertown, Mo., passed away Monday, September 4, 2006, at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City, Mo. He was born May 10, 1926 in Jefferson City, Mo., the son of James E. Sr. and Susie B. Crawford Johnson who preceded him in death. He was married June 5, 1948, in Jefferson City, Mo. to Reta V. Zimmerman who survives at the home. He worked for Union Electric for 38 years as a groundman, retiring February 1, 1988. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 1003 in Jefferson City, Mo. and a lifetime member of NRA. He graduated from Centertown High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1944-1946, and obtained the rank of Fireman 2nd Class. Other survivors include one son, Wayne L. Johnson with his wife, Debbie of Clarksburg, Mo.; one daughter, Linda Abbett with her husband, Doug of Centertown, Mo.; three brothers, Richard Johnson with his wife, Helen of Morris, Ill., Howard Johnson with his wife Jo Ann of Centertown, Mo. and Curtis Johnson with his wife, Jan of Morris, Ill.; one sister, Irma Plaster of California, Mo.; four grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by six brothers, Lloyd, Roy, Paul, Charles, Stanley and Donald Wayne Johnson; two half brothers, James Jr. and Ralph Johnson and two half sisters, Helen Jarrett and Jennie Copeland. Services will be held at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Service, Friday, September 8, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Russell Johnson. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery north of Centertown, Mo. Visitation will be Thursday, September 7, 2006, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to New Hope Cemetery Fund, Franklin Zimmerman, 610 Norris Drive, Jefferson City, MO 65109. The family is being cared for by Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Service in California, Mo.
